The flip side is this adds cost and complexity so other than adaptive cruise, which enables one to pace the car in front, I'm trying to understand just exactly what all this does and how it benefits a motorcyclist?

I agree with Clifton, on this one!  A whole bunch of stuff to malfunction, IMHO. Too much technology.

I have a new Stelvio on order and I specifically wanted one WITHOUT this system.  When we rely on the automated systems to cover for what we should be doing anyway, we get lazy.  Further complication in this area is not necessary and, for me at least, not desired. K.I.S.S.

4D?

4D?!?!

Say what? Discovered an alternate universe have we?
I jest..

. “Riders also need to reverse safely without hitting low or high obstacles such as poles, curbs, and parked cars, especially since motorcycles and scooters often park in odd places, rather than dedicated parking spots,” commented Podkamien…
This is news?

The whole scheme in my mind is to eventually have everyone’s computer talking to all the other (car) computers…and that is when they take over your controls, eh? Jeeze

So many acronyms in this article I was getting dizzy reading it.  IMO the tech is out of control both on cars and certainly on 2 wheels.  If you think
you need that much help you should probably stay on 4 wheels or use public transportation.  Can't imagine the challenges for mechanics to work on
these.  My Triumph Scrambler 400 on order makes all of 39.5 hp and it has TC.  Seriously?  Thankfully it doesn't have multiple rider modes.

This technology has been on Piaggio scooters since 2022 and while I don't look at any scooter websites, in a brief look on the internet I haven't found anyone complaining about this system. If I was buying a Guzzi with this option, I'd look to those scooter chat groups.

I'd be curious if it can't be turned off.

Doesn't look like some complicated system, typical to what is in most modern cars, etc. that offer similar products.

It might be good for a car driver arguing on the phone to vibrate or auto correct the steering as they start to run off the road. Or when it slams on the brakes as they're texting only to see the car in front had suddenly hit the brakes. I just don't believe motorcyclists engage in the kind of distracted riding that some car drivers do so I'm not sure how this will benefit us? What all does it offer (besides adaptive cruise for those who want that) that will be worthwhile?

Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) Rider Assistance Solution introduces an automotive standard of safety for the motorcycle, scooter and light mobility powersports industries. The solution offers uncompromised safety to prevent collisions and protect riders with the industry's first ever 4D imaging radar-based motorcycle safety platform.

“The Rider Assistance Sensing technology is designed to complement the rider while providing the highest possible resolution and the most granular detail, to ensure reliable system operation in all weather and lighting conditions. Piaggio Fast Forward’s Rider Assistance solution offers all of this with an affordable, adaptable and highly customizable system design at a very competitive pricing model suitable for mass deployment across multiple vehicle types and categories.

PFF Rider Assistance Solution can address all the main safety requirements for a motorbike or a scooter that helps the rider cruise safely in heavy traffic in all environmental and lighting conditions. The PFF modules use a 4D imaging Radar-on-Chip (RoC) sensor, enabling multiple ARAS functions such as Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear (RCW) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) with a single sensor and an ultra-wide field-of-view.

For more information about PFF Rider Assistance Solution, please reach out to kim.karvonen@piaggiofastforward.com.“

Yeah I've read their news release and I still don't get it. “The Rider Assistance Sensing technology is designed to complement the rider while providing the highest possible resolution and the most granular detail, to ensure reliable system operation in all weather and lighting conditions........"
But whatever.... as long as it's just an option.

Our little Mazda CX-30 has all the safety features. I was driving my wife to the airport in a torrential downpour and the car starts beeping and displays a message that all the safety features shut off because of the heavy rain.

Just when I could use the extra help of the safety features they aren’t available.

I do like the adaptive cruise control when on a road with no passing opportunities and the guy ahead of me is constantly varying his speed.

Bring it on!

I drive 4 wheels professionally, spending 6 - 8 hours a day behind the wheel. My Hyundai's Smart Cruise Control has braked for me several times when I was momentarily distracted.

It can happen to anyone.

Maybe it can, but in my case it certainly hasn't. But I'm glad for you that you have it on your car.

All of the above. I don't want to deal with ANY of that crap on a bike. And I don't want to pay for it, either.
And what happens when it malfunctions? And it WILL malfunction.....

There used to be a certain pride in riding a bike/not dying/making sure you don’t Liberace’ someone/changing gears smoothly/blipping in time…etc.
Now there’s computer chips telling you….
“Mind your own business, I know more than you do…”
Maybe so, but it still should be MY decision.
