2013 V7 Kickstand question
« on: September 27, 2017, 08:45:11 PM »
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make the kickstand easier to use? The little metal extension that wraps around the exhaust is too small and I'm having a problem getting it to deploy. In the process my boots hit the exhaust and my soles have molten spots on the side. Does anyone make an extension that will make the kickstand easier to deploy? The previous owner removed the heat shield to make it easier to use, but I nixed that idea after a patch of molten rubber from my boot sole adhered itself to the exhaust.

I've had issues getting mine down also. It is a whole lot better since i trimmed my chaps, didn't realize at first they were getting in the way.

When my kickstand gets hard to push down, I clean and lubricate the pivot and the spring. That makes it easy to use again.

No idea. Just some appropriate bolt from the collection. Not even sure it's metric. It's just something for the heel to catch on - works well.

Yes, the kickstand pivot needs regular lubrication. I recently found in the Breva 750 owners manual that Guzzi recommends Agip SM2 grease, or a "top brand rolling bearing grease that will resist a temperature range of -30 C +140C, with a dripping point 150C - 230C, high corrosion protection, good resistance to water and oxidation".

this is exactly how I let my girl down the first time...stupid kickstand didn't exploy properly when I try to kick that extension...

and I was rushing for a birthday party >.>...ended up missing it because the bike was on me and burnt me...

I'll have to see if that bolt trick will work.

It's not that it is physically difficult to deploy the kickstand, its just there's not much purchase on the extension and my boots keep sliding off. That bolt trick looks like a good fix.
