Here's a quick sound clip of the GPR Albus on the 8V Norge.

Thanks for that Craig.

Regarding windshields...

I'm 5-10, and am getting lots of buffeting at forehead level while sitting comfortably with the stock screen all the way up. It seems like there are three main options: the cal-sci, the mg cycle, and the skidmarx one. The cal-sci, in med, seems to be the most popular, but it's only .5" taller according to their site. What is everyone using these days and why?

The Cal-Sci medium at 5'10" will mostly likely be unsatisfactory...I had one as well, sold it, and then bought another and cut it down about 2 inches as at standard height, it was actually more buffeting than the stock screen.  it's not bad, but not great...may have to go another 2 inches down.

I have experimented with the stock one, for a while I ran a Cal-Sci Shorty (going to cut this down another 2 inches and should produce even more clean air) and finally found one by TLM (Teo Lamers) in Netherlands, which is a bit taller (XL size) and better shaped that does the trick and actually better priced than the Cal-Sci even with shipping.

Some folks do like the Laminar lip for its functionality, even though it looks a bit funky...

I use my Norge a bit, and I reckon the wind is half the fun of being on a bike.

Exactly. There's a big difference between riding the v7 with flyscreen and feeling the wind, and having my head tossed around like a plane in a storm.

By the way I am 5'10" use a 2012 Norge with the med. cal/sci screen. I get very, very little to no buffeting at any height setting. I like it considerably better than the stock screen.

I'm the same height as you but long in torso/short legged so might present more upper body exposure (plus I'm a full-figured sort).  The Cal S in medium is just right for me and I'm very glad I have it.  I followed their sizing guide with the site point routine and it worked just right for me.

As to buffeting, I never feel any at any speed when both hands are on the grips.  If I let my left hand go free for a break and sit up only a bit, I get a surprising amount of air blast and can sense my jacket vents grabbing a lot of air and flow.  This tells me that the whole system is at a fine line when I'm in the normal riding position so I imagine there could be a reaction to small variations in riders' physical factors.

The stock windscreen produces a lot of buffeting for me, too. However, much of it depends upon which helmet I am using. My full-face Schuberth seems to have more buffeting than my open-face helmet. Strange!

I often use the Agostini version of the MG Cycle windscreen. (They might be identical.) It looks pretty good (though not as svelte as the stock windscreen), and there is much less buffeting.

I am thinking of experimenting and cutting down one of my two stock windscreens. In open air, like when I stand on the pegs, it is very quiet with with my full-face Schuberth.

I think you will find it to be a marked improvement over the stock turbulence-maker.

Note: You should order four new rubber grommets so you do not need to take the originals out of your stock screen. That way you can swap screens quickly and easily. (Removing and inserting the rubber grommets is a pain.)

Warning: Unless you are careful, you WILL scratch your new windscreen as you attempt to insert the rubber grommets and fit the screen onto the windscreen mounts. Lay down some towels and preferably have an extra pair of hands.

I have 07 Norge  stock seat  Cal-Sci  windshield at mid to highest setting turbulence free.
I am 6-1. I can hear that nice Guzzi motor just purring along.
In fact it blocks so much air that when its 90 plus I over heat and have to set it at the lowest position
then of course turbulence is back.
usually if i am in town and not road tripping i just run the stock windshield.

2007 Norge - Cal-Sci Large.  6'0.  In the low position it is similar to the stock screen but the design gives less buffeting.  In the full up position, my wife does not get the buffeting on her forehead that she got from the stock screen when riding in back.

Works for us.

Ah, this is another good point. I wonder if the shape of the taller CalSci would be better against the buffeting that my gf may experience with even the MG Cycle screen.

One other point to make here is the trade-off between the wind protection and where your eye line is with the taller windshields.

In some cases, you'll get full wind protection, but the top of the windshield is right at eye level, which can be annoying...so you have to balance these two factors when selecting the right windscreen for your situation.

Cheers,

In my experience with my Norge and my Vespa, I get the best wind protection but some buffeting with a large windscreen and the least buffeting with NO windscreen at all but with a quiet full-face helmet.

I have very little buffeting with my Agostini/MG Cycle screen and pretty good wind protection.

On my Vespa with no screen but with my Schuberth full-face helmet, I have absolutely NO buffeting, a good bit of wind on my chest, and NO wind noise on my helmet.

YMMV.

Glad you got your Norge on time !!  Go over it. Ok, know you already have, LoL.  My Stelvio is missing one of the screws that hold down the air box under the seat.  There are total of six and the lid is quite secure with five but still.... PDI shoulda caught that before it shipped. (Both my Stelvio and BTB's Norge 8V came from same dealer...).

Spray your windscreen grommets with Plexus, hold them on an angle, start the leading edge into the hole, and twist them in.
No muss, no fuss, and the Plexus is good for the screen.

I've had it for a week and about 500 miles so far. I absolutely love it. For me, it moves like a rocket. Especially compared to the v7. The bars feel super smooth at speed. If i get on it it makes it to 100 before I even realize it. I've got the color matched top case on order, and am about to order the MG Cycle screen as well. I've already made the 1st service appointment two weeks from now (before I ride to the GRIT rally). The list of things I'd like to add really isn't too big: nicer exhaust and a givi tanklock ring/bag. Maybe a GPS someday.

You're hooked now.  Welcome to the Norge family.  They just keep running better and better.  Somewhere north of 10,000 she'll really be broken in. At 83,000 miles mine seems to be running more efficiently - average MPG is up a bit from last year.  I certainly can't complain.

Enjoy and post more photos,
