Dante's View is 5,475 feet elevation (13 mile road from Furnace Creek junction, with 15% grade near the top) overlooking Bad Water Basin, 282 feet below sea level.

What do you think you're doing?    :thewife:

Don't you know that those bikes aren't big enough for transcontinental touring?    Now quit that transcontinental touring, and start reading about V7s on the Internet!   :thumb:

Fabulous place that DVNP. Saw it last spring along with Yosemite and sequoia parks. Was 2 up on an Eagle Rider HD.  Nice photos.

I liked Death Valley too.  Too bad Scotty's Castle got wiped out a few years ago.  That was a cool place too.  Hopefully they will bring it all back.

The renovations are underway, but the amount of damage to both the buildings and the road were substantial. Best guess for a re-opening is 2019 - see https://www.nps.gov/deva/learn/nature/flood-2015.htm

I dunno!   I just like to keep ridiing!!  On the way back from Death Valley, having a camera with me, I decided to go to the top of Cold Creek (~36 miles round trip).   Saw 4 wild horses, right along the road, but by the time I stopped, dismounted, opened the side-case, pulled out the camera, turned it on, they were farther away than I wanted.   On Tuesday's ride I saw 19, 13 up close, but only had my flip phone (no snickering, please).

To compensate for my erring ways, I am going to northern Arizona on Monday for a 3 day, ~700 mile trip.
Bike is clean, flyscreen waxed (for easy bug removal), all fluids checked, battery terminals snugged, etc.

Only 10-20% chance of rain Tue and Wed.

Sounds like a great trip on a great bike!   For the pics, maybe just have a cheap camera hung on a lanyard on your wrist or around your neck, one you can just grab, point, and click .... although you seem to be doing a good job as it is!

When it cools down, the camera goes in my right jacket pocket and is much quicker on the draw.

Not going to take a camera to Arizona.   Wife and I have been on that route numerous times and she has hundreds of shots of antelope, etc.
