1998 V11EV Power Commander

Just picked up this bike, my first Guzzi. It runs great, just needs some TLC. There is a Power Commander under the seat that lights up. It has a ground and two wire running down where the throttle bodies are located. So what is this thing doing and will the bike run if I remove it. Are PCs reliable units?

Not needed unless you have open airbox & exhaust. The wires go to the inside of the L&R throttle bodies, adapter plugs onto fuel injector wiring loom on both sides. This is were it gets power, then a ground wire. It's plug & play.
If you are going to tune your bike it is to be disconnected. Once you get done, install it, see if it's ok. If not, get rid of it.

It is to give more fueling at different points on the stock map, usually for open in & out.

So it's not doing anything but black blinking led nights?

If it's installed, and lights flash, it's doing something. I would learn more about it, there are instructions out on the web.

Most all EV's work fine w/o PC's   unless you have open pipes & airbox.

They add or subtract to the stock fuel mapping. Mines been in my stone for about 15 years and my Centauro's is about 10 years old so they do last. They can either have a custom map installed or you can use the buttons to riches or lean out the mixture. They were pretty popular for awhile.

Thanks Jim. So if the PC dies I can keep going and it's just adding to the map in the P8.
