Just thought I'd relate an experience on a recent ride.
Heading south through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania etc... The road was two lane and no wider than standard with the cars travelling in the opposite lane going the other direction, all very normal, however....
In addition to the broken centre line, there is also a broken line about 1.5 metres in from each edge of the road. When you are travelling in your direction with no one in front and there are say, 4 cars approaching toward you, the guy 3rd in line decides to pull out and overtake when there's not enough time to avoid a crash.
He swings into your lane and drives directly at you and you are expected to move to the edge of your lane, as do the cars being overtaken in the other lane, (sometimes), and the passing car goes between the two you.

OUCH !!!     I've had that happen on Rte. 66 but it wasn't supposed to and if I wasn't on my MP3 scooter it could have been devastating.

Yeah, dunno if it's legal or just tolerated but certainly wakes you up first few times !
Thing is, they could run you off and wouldn't give a bugger..

I lived in East Anglia, between Cambridge and Peterborough in the late 70's. The road connecting those cities was 3 lanes wide, with what I called the "suicide lane" in the middle. It was meant for passing and turning. It could get exciting at times. I was never the one passing, I had a 1957 Morris Minor 1000, that barely kept up with traffic.
