Celebrated our 34th anniversary today. Drove out to a awesome little Italian place up in Hayes Va. Its called Tony and Milena's Pizzeria. Its in the Hayes shopping center, a half empty strip mall, on Va. Route 17 just 2 miles north of the Coleman Draw Bridge. Its difficult to see as their sign is small, but its next to the Auto Zone store.
Honestly some of the finest Italian food I have had outside of Italy. Its run by a Brother and Sister who came over from Italy. You will hear some Italian spoken there. ;-) The food is homemade to order. Service is terrific. Todays visit was our third time there this year. Its 50 miles away from us, so it is for special occasions. Moderate prices. Most entrees are under or around $20. We purposely ate half our dinners to save room for dessert. A chocolate cannelloni and Espresso go great together!
If you like traveling off the hiways and pass along Rt. 17 in SE Va. Look them up!
The funny thing for me is we found this place by accident this past Spring while driving home from Bill Sharps funeral. I was searching restaurants on the GPS and this came up. After the three of us walked in, we felt like we had hit the GPS lottery!
I'd love to put together a dinner there sometime for the Va, folk here. For folks in the Richmond or Tidewater areas, its an easy drive. What do you think?
