Changing an alternator serpentine belt on a California Touring 1400 engine?

So with you being so adamant about the use of "MG" for Moto Guzzi.  Have you tried to reform or get MG Cycle to change their use of it?

No, no.  He's right, there is no fan belt.  Correcting me on that is the best that he can do on the subject.

Because of the rubber mounted engine changing the alternator belt is an absolute prick of a job. It's possible, but it's time consuming and a pain in the arse.

Having said that I've only done one so I'm in no position to have worked out any cheater tricks.

So, not as simple as the alternator belt on my 2v 1200 Sport?  Only done it 1x, but as I recall, reasonably easy.

OTOH, I may find a good dealer willing to change out the oil pressure sensor, since it appears to be a nasty job.  Or I'll just continue putting up with stopping and starting the engine for a second time, which normally tends to knock out the dreaded triangle, and gives me back my full LCD

Didn't know that you're Charlie at Antietam Classic Cycle.  If not, my comments must have been valid since his post got pulled. 

With respects to your post, IIRC Gordon is "Mr. Cheesehead or Cheesehead".  Shouldn't it be MM Cycle?  "Mr. Cheesehead and Mr.  Gordon"???  I think that MG Cycle as their business and website address is intentional.  More power to Gordon and his business.     I'm waiting for an order of parts that I just placed last week.

I "pulled my post" because you can't seem to take a little good natured ribbing and had to turn on me (and now Steve).

BTW, it's not a "serpentine" belt either since it doesn't "snake" around a tensioner or idler roller, just runs between the crank pulley and alternator pulley.

I was trying to be humorous about it. 

The Cali 14 is not user friendly for the person doing service or whatever. I find that particular bike an engineering f?#K up. It is built like an 80's Goldwing.
The most difficult model to work on !!!   They could have done a better job.
