Anybody look at this?

I asked the guy if it ran. His response? "No".

Me: "Any idea WHY it won’t run, or the last time it DID run?"

"Was flooded"

Me, discerning that more elaborate questions won't get an elaborate response: "From Sandy?"

"Yes, was flushed out"

So at least he offered that the engine was "flushed". No phone #, so gathering more info is almost too laborious to bother with.

I suppose the only way to know if the engine and tranny are any good would be to open them up, what would be a fair offering price?

Yeah sure it was flushed.... and that's why it's not running and he hasn't bothered to try and get it running.

The electrics are all trash and I'd be shocked if there wasn't still salt water in the rest but even IF there's oil in there now, what's the chance that it was drained and refilled in even a reasonable amount of time. Or hell, why would we think that's sufficient.

When an outboard is lost overboard you're supposed to keep it submerged (no air) until you can immediately drain, flush, refill, and get it running again. Just draining it, pouring in more oil, and maybe even turning it over IS NOT sufficient.

If you can't do all that right away it needs to be completely disassembled and every single internal part cleaned, examined, and possibly replaced.

I'd say it's likely mostly junk.

But for say $500, you could probably salvage enough pieces to make it worth while.

Not worth it. There was salt water inside the engine and tranny, and probably some sand. The rear drive might be salvageable, and maybe the front suspension and wheels. But you could buy well-maintained used units for a lot less. Electrics are toast, and probably the brake calipers.

The only value here is for the frame number and matching title.

My T was half-submerged in fresh floodwater for about an hour. It's on the second rebuild. If I can't get it running in pre-flood form this time, I'll part it out.
