The MotoCycle Shop is getting out of New Guzzis
« on: December 09, 2017, 05:53:16 PM »
The Motocycle Shop in Watertown SD is going to stop selling new Guzzis. If anyone is shopping for a new Guzzi now would be the time to buy one from them. 1-800-55-GOOSE
They will continue to service Guzzis, just not sell new.

Lee, will Piaggio support them (or any other ex-dealer) in that effort?

Sad to hear, with Judson Cycle no longer a Guzzi dealer it'll be a long trip if I want to buy a new Guzzi. But I can understand- hard to justify carrying a small volume brand in a rural small town. But I suspect they're selling a couple Suzukis for every Guzzi, and even more ATVs. Heck, out here the farmers and sportmen buy so many ATVs that motorcycles have almost become an afterthought for dealers.

that's a mighty small market for such a nitch brand.  It also doesn't help that many dealer agreements force them to carry a broader line than they likely can place, if they could only bring in the models that fit the market that might help.  I always sort of wonder what a GSA is doing at a dealer in Manhattan, then again I've seen more GSA's in Manhattan than I have in South Dakota actually so what do I know...

Sad to hear. So does this mean that There are no Guzzi Dealers in North Dakota? I’ve heard there may be a new dealer near Rapid city or Sturgis but haven’t been there to know. I knew Judson no longer had BMWs but thought they still had Guzzi’s. Bummer.

Hi Dave,
They are in South Dakota.  Judson gave up new Guzzi's too.

John
I ment to include South and North Dakota but apparently my fingers were not syncing with my brain at the time. Here in Alexandria the only new bike dealer is the Harley, shortly after Apols came in we lost Honda, Yamaha, and of course Victory is no more, the Kawasaki dealer has a couple hold overs, but like most of the bike dealers near here they devote the majority of their floor space to Lawn tractors, snow blowers, 4 wheelers and side by sides. And deluxe fish houses on wheels. But than most of these guys also used to show new Snowmobiles, now we are down to 2 dealers for new sleds also, sad sign of the times here in rural Lake Woebegone Mn.
I will miss seeing the new Guzzi’s in Watertown, we stopped there often on our way westward. But Doug and his crew do awesome restorations and although their showroom is small it’s always worth the stop to see what’s on the floor.

Piaggio doesnt' support their dealers worth a hoot. I can't imagine the would offer anything to an independent shop that services Guzzis.

For the record, they, not long ago, sold more Guzzis than any other dealer in the US. People come from all over the US to buy from them and have them service their Guzzis. They are and have always been Guzzi owners first and shop owners second.

The Motocycle Shop is 'my' Guzzi dealer, or more accurately, service shop, as they've been taking care of my Breva 11 (bought used in another state/life) for some years now. They do a very, very good job of keeping the old girl sweet. They also refurbish older Guzzis and have had some beauties on the showroom floor.

Will they continue as a Suzuki dealer? I assume so?

Nope, getting out of Suzuki also. Will continue doing service work and restorations but will not be an OEM dealer for either brand. Seriously, NOW is the time to get a bike from them. Their discounts are fantastic.  Most of these bikes will be gone after the first of the year, heading back to Guzzi and Suzuki.
