Money is only wasted when not used for a passionate purpose.

Your wife's Lasagna was worth getting passionate about! Making my mouth water just thinking about it, and I'm still stuffed from Christmas Dinner.

The BSA tank emblem is indeed a beautiful thing, even with a water cooled 'sloper' engine underneath it.  I suppose if the lean forward engine was good enough for Panther it would be fine for a new BSA.

If the quality of these bikes mirror those of the tractors, they will be nothing short of fantastic.

I was thinking the same thing . Mahindra tractors seem to have been well received in our market .

I have never owned a BSA, but have ridden them and always liked them. :thumb:

Back when I was born (1954) BSA was once the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer....my how times have changed...

I never heard the expression BSA - Bastard Stopped Again - - so that's a good one!!

I have read that the build quality of Mahrindra tractors is quite good...

I bought this BSA Spitfire Scrambler used, registered as a 1964 model, in October of 1965.  Think it was actually a 1963, judging from the fact that it was powered by an A10 engine, not an A65.  Fast forward to mid-August 1966, and the BSA and I completed a road trip from Charleston WV to Harlingen TX and back.  No one was around to tell me that this wasn't exactly a touring bike.  I didn't appreciate what an adventure it was at the time.

The advertisement for the 1990 Ohio Valley BSA Owners' Rally gives a better impression of the bike's appearance.  Mine was equipped with headlight and taillight, generator-powered, no 6v battery.  Ignition by Lucas magneto.

Yes...back in the days when one was not afraid of the adventure that was ahead and further down the road!!! :thumb:  :1:  My very FIRST overnight, weekend motorcycle road trip adventure (maybe 400+ miles round trip), was on a 1977 Yamaha RD 400, just like this one...to Lake George, NY, in the Adirondack Mts.  Just added a duffle bag of clothes / supplies bungeed on the back and off I went with some other two-wheeled friends!

That hooked me for long, overnight, motorcycle trips to this day!!   Although a 2-stroke, I would guess a trifle bit more reliable on the scale than a mid-1960's BSA!!!

What is that apparatus hanging out at the front of the engine?  Cant really tell from the photos, but at first glance it looks like they hung a leather tool bag below the exhaust to cover up whatever is projecting from the front of the case.

After reading your post, I pulled up the pic of the BSA Concept.  Not sure what it is ..... tool bag or otherwise.

My cousin will disagree. He bought a brand new tractor this year. We are not impressed with his $50,000 Mahindra

Nobody here in our farming community who has to make a living with them is buying Mahindras.   They sell some to the hobby farmers and weekend squires; they ARE cheap compared to one of the known US brands, and sometimes that's what counts.

Mahrindra dosen’t Builder all their own tractors, they sub-out.  The one I’ve  been looking at is built complety by Mitsubishi, the next model up was built by mitsubishi but the engein was built by mahrindra.  I think a person needs to do a little resurce on the tractor or motorcycle of their choice.Rudyr

This is a misconception. The equivalent Kubota was $1,000 cheaper. The only reason my cousin went with Mahindra was they had lower monthly payment. He is not a farmer. Just a utility tractor with backhoe attachment. 30hp diesel.

I guess it depends what kind of deal you're getting from which dealer, etc.   I've always found Kubota tractors to be a bit more expensive.

Just checking list prices on "comparable" tractors, a 33 gross HP/27 PTO HP Kubota B3350HSD lists for $25,277.    As close as I can come to comparing, a Mahindra 1533HST with 34 gross/25 PTO HP lists for $23,170.

In general, I'll bet you can get a Mahindra cheaper.   If the dealer is selling it on "time", he can afford to play around with the price ....

I don’t know which is best but one is made from aluminum and one is made from iron.  Question which last longer under hard use?  Kubota spendes more on advertising, so you can sell to a wannabe.Rudyr

The dealer the tractor came from runs a radio ad saying Mahindras are the toughest, made from real steel. Mike broke the plastic hood in the first week. Within 6 months of purchasing he had it back at the dealer 4 times. Front axle was falling off. 4x4 selector lever is a stupid amount of tight, they are just that way. The rear hydraulics won't hold pressure, still haven't fixed that one. And I can't remember the last one. For the purchase price, just not impressed.

He bought the 1538 with cab, loader, and backhoe. Final price was just north of 48k. Surprisingly Case had the cheapest comparable tractor but they don't offer a backhoe and he didn't want to buy one separate. The case with an after market backhoe attachment was around 42k.
