I just mounted a Happy Trails box on the back of the CB. I purchased the box in Boise at the factory. Spoke to the owner there and he had one he said was returned due to a blemish. I looked hard at the box for about 5 minutes and couldn't find it. Owner and I spoke for about 25 minutes about a number of things. Very personable. Sold the box for $150. Normally sells for around $229 or so plus tax. Anyway, I'm on a CB forum and the regulars were lamenting about the dearth of pics and posts around this time of year so decided to see how the bike runs with that box and pump up our ride report section.
Headed south trailering the bike to Goblin Valley and rode half of this Wed and all of Thursday (yesterday) before packing up in the pm yesterday and heading home. Knocked out 345 miles according to the bike odometer. Rode to east entrance of Capitol Reef Wed and back to Goblin Valley. Then Thursday left Hanksville for Bullfrog Marina. Took the Charles Hall Ferry across and then headed for Natural Bridges and back via Fry Canyon to Hite Marina for gas (thankfully the pumps worked as the store was closed for the season) and back to Hanksville. Loaded the bike at 5pm and was home a little after 9 pm. I'm having problems with IMGUR right now so other pics will be forthcoming in a separate post if I can get it to work.
Temps ranged from a low of 19 at 9 am yesterday in Hanksville to a high of right at 50 around Hite. There was a lot of variability depending on where I was at the time as altitude changed and I was in a lot of canyons in shadows.
Entering Goblin Valley:
Campsite is to the left in the shadows under that distant wall.

My campsite in Goblin Valley:

The actual "Goblin Valley" at sunset which is prob the best time to be here for pics.

Out by Capitol Reef Wed PM looking SE at the Henry Mts.

Road from Notom Utah heading north back to Capitol Reef East entrance.

Random shots heading back to Hanksville:

Factory Butte. Site of a minor environmental battle some years back in regards to unrestricted atv use on public lands.

Coming back into Goblin Valley. Looking at Temple Mt.

Buttes outside Hanksville heading north to Goblin Valley and campsite

This is a great time of the year to be out on a bike down here if the weather cooperates. By the time I rolled back into Camp I had over 100 miles on the odo and MAYBE saw 20 cars, but prob less.
Day two: Left Blondies Greasy spoon diner at 9 AM yesterday (Thursday) heading south for Bullfrog and the ferry crossing. Pics are from this 68 mile stretch of road. 19 degrees as I saddled up and gave the big CB a handful of throttle. It responded with ZERO character (minimal Guzzi content here)

. Just gobs of characterless torque as it pulled forward like a steam engine on steroids in the cold morning air.
Henry Mt's from the East looking west:

Further south:

Descent into Ticaboo. At this point I felt the need to do some real world testing to see if the top box impacted handling dynamics. None noted as the ton was eclipsed.

Arriving at Bullfrog. Lots of medium sized rental units in dry dock for the winter or for maint.

Some of you may remember I posted up this trip on the Racer a couple of years back. That trip report is lost to the Photobucket debacle. But to add some more MGC, here is the Racer after I rode it up the Moki Dugway Switchbacks from Mexican Hat.

Hopefully I will get IMGUR working again so I can post up the second part of this trip as I believe those are the better pictures I took.
