Longmire Days in Buffalo Wy. Anybody from here going?

Wife surprised me with reservations yesterday for Buffalo, Wy's 'Longmire Days' festival 10-12 August. Then she surprised me again and told me mother-in-law is going with us. Upside is since I have to take a vehicle I'll probably take the truck and small enclosed trailer and haul the V7R up and ride through the Bighorns coming and going.

Details of the festival activities are being hashed out. Some of the cast will attend. Mathias (Zahn Tokiya-ku McClarnon) has committed to being there.

Anybody here have plans on going? We could met up for a Rainier and a shot of Wyoming Whiskey (my treat).

Since Henry's Red Pony is actually located in Madrid NM, you might be waiting a long time to get a drink!

I've managed to miss that the last few times I was thru Buffalo by only a couple days, 'bummer as I'm a Longmire fan.  Craig (author) lives near there and many of the exteriors are shot there as well.
The Red Pony as mentioned is not there but the Buzy Bee Cafe is,right next to the Occidential Hotel.
Speaking of which, if you are not already too late try to get a room there, the coolest hotel in the west:

By all means be sure to take 16 out of there thru the Bighorn Mountains towards Cody, one of the most sunning roads you'll fine. The Cheif Joseph out of Cody (296) and the Red Lodge Pass (212) arn't exactly dull either.

True, but Buffalo is a great place to visit. Don't miss the Main St. Diner, the historic Occidental Hotel's bar across the street, the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum (if you're into Western history, Buffalo was the scene of a great range war), and, for something out of the ordinary, Wyoming's biggest outdoor pool, which is public and free-admission. I always stay in a cabin at the Mountain View Motel and Campgrounds on the main drag going west out of town, but this is a matter of taste, for sure.

EDIT: I agree US 16 west of Buffalo is very nice, but I prefer US 14 and 14A, which you can take by going up to Sheridan. A good idea would be to do both. The sun from the west is beautiful in the evening. I also strongly recommend WY 296, with Dead Indian Pass, NW of Cody.

Because I don't watch television, I miss the good stuff, too. Went to the local library, and they have the whole Longmire series. I'll give it a look tonight. Thanks..
The sad thing, is I've been out in that area twice in the last 5 years and haven't been to Buffalo.

Any dual sport riders going west of Buffalo into the big horns you don't want to miss the Crazy Woman Canyon road. Fairly smooth gravel, very scenic!

Thanks for that. If I talk the Kid into doing a western trip, we'll do it on the spineys.  Smooth gravel, pffft. Don't need no steenkin "adventure bike."

Grisos are great gravel bikes too. I'll add that one to my itinerary too, if I don't forget.
