2000 V11 Sport info needed
« on: January 17, 2018, 03:06:13 PM »
I'm working on a 2000 V11 Sport (one of the lime green/red frame ones) to sell in the spring. It doesn't have a riders manual. So, for now I need valve clearances, factory oil recommendations, &  tire pressures. Possibly more as I get deeper into the bike. If anyone has an orphan riders or shop manual laying around PM me a price.
Thanks,
Ron

I think you can find owners and service manuals here

Air pressures.  I'd put more than the factory settings.  2lbs. less than the max on the sidewalls.
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.

the valve clearances are .004 in  intake and  .006 in ex.  Same as other big blocks Guzzi.

oil is 20w50  3.5 L  with filter
rear end is 370ml, 350ml 80-90wt gear oil + 20ml moly
tranny 850ml, synth 90wt

air is a crap shoot on the redframe depending on load.  Go with 35 front and 38 rear.  If you get high speed weave, more rear less front (when I carry saddle bags 40 lb rear and 28 lb front).

Check for a crack at the transmission mount. Ask LowRyter.. there's a brace you can install. Of course if you are just flipping it, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would swap out the 5 relays for all 5 pin variety,  the early ones have a weak charging Voltage reference, ground the regulator case, make sure the main battery ground is securely bolted to a gearbox bolt.
Special bike IMHO

The V11 Lemans whisperers have determined that the best relay is the high current Omron.

Use them in position 5, and on the red frame bikes, 1 also. They're cheap, use them everywhere.
While you are at it, clean corrosion off the relay base hardware and give em a shot of DeOxit.
