V7 III Center Stand and Luggage Mount Questions
« on: May 05, 2018, 09:32:23 PM »
I'm buying a kballowe's former V7 III Special.
So, of course, now I need to accessorize it as I had my '14 Special.

I see that there are two center stands available for it, one from Aprilia, one from Hepco & Becker.
The H&B one is $70 less. so, all else equal, I'll go with it.

Has anyone had any experience with either stand?     Is there anything reason that maybe the Aprilia one is worth the extra cost?   I'll certainly drop the extra coin if it is worth it.

Question number two is regarding the Hepco & Becker luggage mounts.    They list different part number mounts for the Mk3 V7's than Mk1 and Mk2 (mk1 and mk2 use the same ones).    Does this mean something is dimensionally different about the Mk3 that precludes using the earlier mounts, or that they just made changes to the design for some other reason?

A mate with a V7 II Special found that the. H&B centrestand was better than the Guzzi one.

The III upper shock mount is now behind the sidecover down tube, so the mounting place for the luggage rack is likely a couple of inches rearwards.

Good to know, and that's the cheaper one (Guzzi Content  :boozing:)

Make sense now that I look closely at pics of both models.

My V7 III has the H-B center stand. works fine no problems.

I also have the H-B luggage mounts and luggage. Luggage mounts for the V7 III are different because of the changes made to the V7 III. The shock mounts were relocated to give the shocks a more vertical positioning and the luggage rack is mounted to the shock mounts.

Went with the Givi luggage rack on my III. Lower price and very robust. I like that it attaches to the passenger peg mount vs. shock bolt.

Nice beefy looking rack, but, I already have the H&B luggage, and the bike I'm buying has the H&B top case rack, so, I just need to add the side ones.

The ones on my '14 will go with the bike, which is already pending sale on Saturday.

This is what I fitted, of course you will to also select a set of C-Bow bags to suit.

When I put the HB centerstand on my Viii, I had to file away some of the powder coating inside the part of the stand that the big bolt goes through, as well as polish the bolt down a bit with a grinder in order to get it to fit.  No big deal though.

Yeah, Jay has a number of bikes with the C-bows already.

But, I want to put the 30L Juniors on this bike.   I prefer the Juniors where the application allows for them, they're about 50% bigger than most of the C-bows, plus lockable hard cases vs. the soft bags that I've got.     I do know about the Orbit hard cases they make for the C-bow mounts, but, they're only 22L, and I already have the Juniors.    Same goes for the top case, I'm not going to invest in a Givi top case, when I already have three H&B ones (40L, 45L, and 55L).

For those not familiar with the C-bows, they do seem to be available for more bikes, and work esp. well for sport bikes and smaller bikes.  I've got them in three bikes now, V7 Racer, Monster 796, and W650.   Plus, with part of the mount that goes on the bag available separately, it's easy to convert any hard bag to mount to them as Cam did with the beautiful paint-matched Buccos for his V7 Special.

Any idea if, at least in general terms, you can mount a rear rack as well as side case mounts at the same time?
