Swamp Scooters 2018
« on: February 07, 2018, 12:43:40 PM »
Just in from Mark Perry MGNOC State Rep Louisiana.

Moto Guzzi/ BMW 16th Gumbo Rally  Swamp Scooters Motorcycle Club

November 9-11, 2018

Come pass a good time and  laisser les bon temp rouler or,  let the good times roll for those not fortunate enough to live here at Bayou Wilderness RV Resort (www.bwrvr.com) just outside Lafayette, Louisiana.

Come on over for Friday and Saturday nights, bring a tent for primitive camping under beautiful oak trees.

Friday

Arrive, get set up, relax and chat with friends over an evening meal which we provide; sit around the bonfire to trade tall stories and enjoy beverages which you may purchase from the on-site RV General Store.

Saturday

Breakfast will be provided. Or just relax at the campsite. This gives you plenty of time to explore the local area. Information on this to see can be obtained on site.

We expect to have the Louisiana State MSF representatives on site, new motorcycles from our local dealers, and some vendors.

Enjoy our 10th Annual Don Royer Gumbo Cook-off early in the evening. This is a competitive event that will have you sampling true down-home recipes. Our local riders all claim to have the winning recipe prepare these unique Cajun gumbos, and it's said that most of them are right! This is a serious business folk, so bring an appetite, and you won't go away hungry.

There'll be local music, perhaps some awards and door prizes given out while you sit around the campfire, kicking tires & telling more impossible stories under the starry skies. Cac'est bon!

Sunday

Pack and leave. Bid au revoir to friends both old and new, until next year. A safe ride home!

Pre-entry fee is $70, which includes a T-shirt, and rally pins for the first 150 who pre-register, or $60 with no t-shirt or rally pin, either way, $70 at the door with no shirt or rally pin. This pays for two nights camping, with one breakfast, two evening meals and entertainment

Pre-entry deadline is 8th October 2018. Entry at the door is $70 and some T-shirts may be available for purchase.

If you would like to compete in our cook-off, please emailpresident@swampscooters.net. Space for teams is limited, so get in touch early.

We will have clean Port-o-lets, and water stations in the camp area. There is a bath house with toilets and hot showers in the RV area for our use. There is no electricity at the campsite; to arrange, at your expense, an RV site with electrical outlets call the campground at (337) 896-0598. This also goes for travel trailer, camper, bus or similar. If you prefer a hotel, contact our pres about local hotels that close by.

You may mail in your money with the Registration Form or go here and register and pay with PayPal.

Send any questions to president@swampscooters.net

We hope you'll come join us

That is a good event.  The food alone makes it worth the trip.  The only problem for us "northerners" is the potential of cold (or worse) weather during the return trip.  I last attended in 2013 (I think, maybe '14) and the last day of the return from Montgomery, AL was in the mid-30's.  That was 550 miles of cool riding.

However, this year I have that four-wheel object so that trip would be a lot more enjoyable.  Hum!

I always knew I'd get old.  How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though.
