He is a long-time Triumph rider / enthusiast, (he still has a vintage Triumph Street-Tracker, and a modern Triumph Bonneville America cruiser,  - - see photos - - and I think he is keeping both.   He also rode to our Guzzi N.A.R. last year in Cottonwood.

However, he is all jazzed up about getting this bad boy!  The new Indian Springfield!!

I kinda like it. Very retro. Even has the look of a side valve engine.

Yup, I know it's not everyone's cup of java, but this, the RK, the Cali 1400 etc. all speak to me in terms of the archetypal shape of a traditional motorcycle, especially one for trekking.

Yes, having owned and ridden two HD FLH-S (Electra Glide Sport), two Road Kings, and now "Moby Dick", the big V-Twins, along with the Indian's and Cali 1400 are really meant for the expansive American highways.   Not for everyone, however... :thumb:

i was thinking of buying one of those Victory visions. AKA Moby Dick, never heard it called that before! Would you buy another now that you’ve had some time on it?

It is called Moby Dick, because it is white...and it is a 871 pound "whale!"     However, my wife LOVES riding on the back, so I will keep it for now.  I have 10 years parts / service, but Victory is officially Out-Of-Business.

They are good, solid, reliable bikes, and handles well (long-wheelbase and only 25" seat height).  However, if this was gone, I would probably buy another Big-Twin Harley or another large cruiser (BMW? Yamaha?), because Visions  are now extinct.

Do you have to harpoon one to make it go fast?

No, photo #2 was taken in Cordes Junction, off I-17, near the Prescott exit, and at a diner there...

It is definitely not a "GO-FAST" bike.  However, with it's fuel injection, 6-speed, and 95 HP, it will cruise at 80-85 mph, two-up with gear, and without issue.    :thumb:

"THAR SHE BLOWS!!"
