New grips...HELP!!!

Here's the deal, I have an 02 Cali EV.  A year ago or so I installed Jackal bars and destroyed the left grip trying to get the grip off the original bars. [Luigi may not grease steering head bearings, but he goes nuts with the grip glue.]  So I stuck on a mountain bike grip I had been saving for twenty years just for this occasion. Decided I would like matching grips.  Installed the left one easy peasy, after twenty minutes with a razor blade and wire snips, [there's wire molded into the grip] I finally hacked a quarter size hole in the grip only to find the throttle tube may be a molded waffle grip underneath.  So what now, if I keep hacking and grinding,  filing and sanding, will I ever get down to a smooth throttle tube? Can I get a new smooth tube from another bike and save some aggravation?  Should I go out in the garage and set my hair on fire?  I'm not a complete idiot, replaced the grips on my IT in 15 minutes and that was with removing the bark busters. Any advice would be appreciated.

  If you have an Air Compressor with a blow gun, insert the nozzle into the grip from the triple tree side and slowly pressurize the grip. It should inflate a little and you can work your way around till it's released.

I've used the air pressure method before, but these grips seem molded to the tube.  The grips I'm trying to install are thinner than the stock ones. Since I've already ruined the grip, I'll keep going until  I have to replace the whole thing.  With all the EVs out there I just thought somebody must have changed the grips before.

My way of getting grips off:

Heat grip a little with a heat gun.

Run a screwdriver between the grip and the bar (or throttle drum) from the bar end up the length of the grip, chasing the screwdriver with WD40 through the long applicator snout.

As you twist the screwdriver and massage the warmed grip the WD40 spreads and suddenly an easy twist and pull brings it off.

I use a razor blade length-ways, plus I have a can of 3M adhesive remover.

I've used all these before, this is different.  I'm actually thinking of taking the tube off, taking it to work, chucking it up in a drill and seeing what happens.  This is not your normal grip, throttle tube type situation.  Was wondering if somebody with an EV had ever replaced their throttle grip.

 :1: but I use a spray electric contact cleaner...gives me just long enough wet and slippery, but then goes away after....

After looking up the parts fiche, it looks like there is an actual tube under the layers of rubber, wire mesh, and plastic. It looked like it might have been all molded as one piece. Now that I see there is a tube, I'm gonna disinstall it from the bike and nuke it from orbit.

Throttle tube removed and as suspected the grip is more or less molded to the tube. It wasn't designed to be separated.  Ordered new tube, no grip.  If it shows up in the stated six to eight weeks with a grip on it, I'll set my hair and the bike on fire.
