Tourmaster/ Firstgear Boot opinions
« on: April 04, 2018, 02:58:15 PM »
Greetings all!

My Tourmaster Solution 2.0 boots are finally getting to the point of needing replacement after a good 6-8 year run.

Have read that the current 2.0 Solutions aren't quite the quality of the old build.

So, have been considering the Firstgear Kili Hi boot. Seems to be getting some good reviews.

I know boots, like every other accessory, is really a personal decision but was wondering if anyone has a "real world" experience and opinion of the Kili Hi or the current Solution boot.

Thanks and,
Ride safe and often....

Jeff

I bought a pair of Tour Master Epic boots last fall.
After only a few rides, the zipper on the right one started getting real tough to move, and the teeth looked like they're chewed up.

Revzilla exchanged them at no charge, but warned me that they're "price point" boots, and the quality isn't so great.

Got the new pair, and the same thing happened.

I need to contact Tour Master about it.  I like the boots otherwise, but, this zipper issue is unacceptable.

I had the Flex model and believe those are similar to the Solution except shorter.  Had some issues with them and ended up switching to the comparable TCX waterproof mid boot.  The TCX is similarly priced with  better construction in my opinion.

Zippers blow.

They're great when the work right.   The zippers on my cheapo $109 Bilt boots work great after four years of nearly daily riding.      They're great for commuting, quick on and off.

I've been riding with TCX "hero's & love them. Check them out. I think you'll be pleased.
