Need Help - Linux user nearby to Biloxi, MS

Older brother lives there.  I gave him an old laptop running Ubuntu Linux.  I manage it remotely via TeamViewer.  Now he has somehow hosed that management tool so I can't get in to do anything for him.  Just need an inspection and perhaps a re-install of that program.  Costly to be mailing this thing back and forth.

Website says its free to d/l for personal use...he can use Software Manager to delete the old version....the d/l is a *.deb package so Synaptic will install it for him....

If the conclusion is that it's hosed, why inspect?  Walk him through the download if you have to, but simply uninstall/reinstall the program is going to be a lot faster than finding a local guru.  Once the client is running you can poke around and find out what happened.

Actually, this is probably the best idea, except Facetime is a Mac tool so it may not be available on linux.  Use google hangouts instead.  You can share a screen at his end and watch. 

ssh would work except it's probably behind a router with a local IP address
