Luggage racks. V7.

Wife has the H&B racks... the rectangular ones.

I've got the c-bow, with the lower profile "legacy" bows for a set of custom bags.

I wish I had a combo of the two... the rectangular rack of the H&B regular rack, but mounted further forward. I don't ride two up, and I'm just not a fan of how far back the racks sit, plus I can't use "throwovers" with it. The c-bow... love the position of the bags with it, great for what they are, but too limiting for bag choice. Need something that would work with my current H&B rear rack (which I 100% love)

Does such a thing exist out there, and I am I just missing it? If not, Plan B is to use the C-bow mounts, remove what i shall term the "bows" and weld in a rectangular support system in their place... but if I don't have to go through all that, I'll just sell the c-bow and buy something off the shelf.

I have Givi racks and bags on my V7 III Special, and I posted about the set-up a few weeks ago. Dunno if you can mix and match w H/B, but I think I included a pic of the mounted racks.

Yeah, I've got the c-bow already... problem is, they're difficult to lash a throwover bag to... due the lack of a bottom "rail". They work in a pinch, but the bags tend to "flop" outwards when in a deep turn sine the bottoms aren't secured properly.

That's a fixable problem.

I was going to suggest you ditch the C-bows & get a banana bag, like the Wolfman Beta Plus that I have, they drape over the sides of the pillion seat, & with the rear rack, there's enough space to tour the country.

But if you want to restrict the movement of your current bags, it only means tying them down a little. The banana bags, sausage bags (like the Giant Loop) & Ortlieb saddle bags tie the bottom front corner to the pillion foot peg hanger with 1 inch webbing loops with clips. It would mean sewing (or perhaps velcroing) the loops on. For the rear, if any more is necessary, add a couple of loops, then tie off to  a figure 8 loop over the frame rails under the seat.

I took a photo, but it doesn't really help much. If stuck, invite a kiwi around for a beer - they can usually come up with something simple (& cheap) without effort. Lateral innovation seems to come in the water over there.

I used those to mount the Cravens on my Cali Custom.  You have some flexibility as to how you position the mounts on the bags.

Just note the C bow fittings are available separately so you can DIY fit them to anything. So if you have a fave bag.....

In case anyone else here is looking for Hepco & Becker luggage mounts for 2009-2016 V7, I listed a full set (for both side and top cases) in the swap meet.   These are the ones for the hard backs such as the Junior and Journey.   

They're black powder coat finish, and about half the price of new ones.
