FAAAAAscinating.  I stopped reading when he said Moto Guzzi was the oldest motorcycle company in the world.  Uh yeah.  Some expert.

What a waste of electrons, other than the pictures of the cool bikes!

I could be tempted by at least 6 bikes on there, especially the Ducati 900SS, and the old two-stroke triples, and the Honda C50/C110.  But there are many I would also have no interest in.

I hate to say it but this story sounds like advertising "click bait".    It's just slamming random motorcycles and saying "you shouldn't buy them" to get people fired up about it, clicking down through the list, etc.

It worked on me for the first three or four and then I realized what it was ....

Well JJ, at least your bikes compared favorably to all of the Chinese brands! I don't have a lot of regard for the thought processes of the fellow that wrote this article.

There are a lot of valid reasons why you wouldn't own a  Centauro but what was mentioned were generic knocks on Guzzis.  Maybe that's the only picture they had...

...25 Used Motorcycles...

JJ,

With almost no exceptions, ANY article that has as its headline the promise of a list will be click-bait.  It's not likely harmful; somebody just wants you to see a bunch of side-bar advertising and perhaps click on a few more similar articles (with more side-bar advertising).

Therefore, NEVER click on links that look like this*:

-- top ten mistakes that all retirees make
-- top ten cars for collecting
-- top ten investment opportunities
-- top ten motorcycle racers of all time
-- top ten NFL running backs of all time

Articles like this are a breeze to write (accuracy being unimportant) and are almost too hard to resist clicking.  They're perfect for generating ad revenue.

*far better for you to post your own list, which should start the same lively discussion, but without the wet blanket I've just tossed (sorry)...

All right, then.

Top Five Best James Bond Villains.

1) Raoul Silva from "Skyfall"
2) Auric Goldfinger
3) Alec Trevelyan from "Goldeneye"
4) Le Chiffre from "Casino Royale"
5) Maximillian Largo from "Never Say Never"

So there.

Moto Guzzi is the "oldest " continuous motorcycle company in the world as HD shut down numerous times. I think this is the accepted facts. I respectfully stand corrected if my information is wrong.

I don't think that's so.   HD has been in continuous operation with no shutdowns since they started up.   They were owned by AMF from 1969 to 1982, but it was still the same company in continuous operation.  You can go to museums and see Harleys from every year since 1903.

It's certainly true that Indian, starting in 1901 or so shut down various times, even though its corpse was propped up in the seats of Royal Enfields, Matchlesses, small two-stroke trailbikes, Floyd Clymer creations like the Indian Velocette, and various reboots for 60+ years after they really shut down in 1953.   Maybe you're thinking of Indian ....?

I looked at the 2017 Lifan200 and the styling is taken directly from the '03 Breva. I guess I should feel flattered by that...... :undecided:

The description of the 500 Mach111 was pretty accurate. The drum brake front was exactly the same as the model my bro-in-law had. Pretty terrifying with that non-existant front brake and the hinge in the middle.

What language was this translated from? It clearly wasn't originally written in English.

Nor translated by someone who speaks English on a regular basis.  "when you begin to turn a curve"??  What's the heck is that?  And as we all know, the Guzzi engine is a longitudinal mount, not transverse.
