Mystery part
« on: August 18, 2018, 11:35:55 AM »
Been hearing a strange rattle at times in my 2013 Stone. Finally isolated it to the headlight.Took it apart and this fell out. I do not see it on the diagram.

 Not the penny.

That's a flingulator dust excluder , a very important part as it keeps detritus out of the flingulator . Pleas don't operate the motorbike before replacing it properly , as a flingulator will not function properly if it gets covered in dust .

Any evidence of internal threading?
Do you see any internal bolts or machine screws that are exposed and might have an OD similar to this tube's ID?  Looks like a bushing or spacer that was used with a long bolt to make for a fixed mounting position.

It's the part that makes the headlight rattling noise. Very important. The OEM version is pretty spendy, but Bosch sells the exact same part for Fiats and VWs for like 1/3 the price.

 Not the penny.

It is a spacer that goes over the screw that mounts the headlight ring to the shell, to prevent bending the ring if you over tighten the screw.

Don't use the BMW substitute. It'll make the bevel box burn
