V7 Sport 'PROJECT'

This is about the same shape I bought my 73' V7 Sport back in 2012 for $4K, but this one has more parts on it than what I had.
But this poor bike has a little more, what's that popular term today .... patina!
Only for the very brave.

A little too much patina for me. At the current price,it seems like too much money.

Wow, that makes my v7 sport "fence post" project look almost brand new when I first got it. I paid $500 for it and now have $8000 more into it. I guess I got a really good deal. Whoever gets this will be investing a lot of time and money.

This was my V7 Sport 'kit', it was missing the tool boxes, foot rests and rear wheel, all difficult to get parts. What was not missing was just worn out.
If you throw enough time and money at it and never plan on recovering your investment anything can be brought back to life, two years of rebuilding and fiddling and paying for parts and servcies and I go to this

Jim, great work as always!!!
I had it pretty easy compared to other V7 Sport projects posted here.
These posts inspired me to dig out the old photos of my V7 Sport project. I bought this bike the summer of 2003 for $4000. It only had 900 miles but it had been stored in a damp environment for 30 years. The cosmetic condition was too far gone to leave as is. The tank isn't shown in these pictures but it was in good shape, albeit the paint looked similar to what you see on the tool boxes.
This was my first Moto Guzzi, and hadn't even ridden one. My first MG ride was on this V7 Sport, post restoration. At the time I purchased this bike I was just enamored with the lines of the V7 Sport and started looking until I found this one. I was brand new to Wildguzzi, but in my first posts about the V7 was followed by advice from Pete Roper to to replace the barrels with a Gilardoni set.
I have since replaced the Koni shocks with the restored originals. Since the original exhaust was too far gone to save (so said my chrome plate source) I have replaced the Lafranconi Competizione mufflers with a set of more correct looking Silentiums.
Little did I know at the time just how much I would grow to enjoy Moto Guzzi. It was a lucky stroke to fall in love with the V7 Sport as it led me to my favorite motorcycle marquee.

I remember thinking 15 years ago that 4K was pretty expensive for a bike that needed restoration. It will be interesting to see what the winning bid is tonight. Only for the brave is right!
