Regarding paint codes

Received this email from Piaggio re: paint codes for my V7:

Thank You for reaching out to us at Piaggio Group Americas, Inc. – Moto Guzzi Customer Care.  It is my pleasure to assist you with answers to your request for paint codes. Unfortunately we do not have access to them since the paint used in Italy is not available in the USA due to our environmental laws and regulations.  The best thing you can do is to go to a reputable paint shop and have them match the paint for you and make you a container of touch up paint. This way you will get as close to a perfect match since paint color tends to change over time.

I call BS on this explanation. Since when has the EU ever had less stringent environmental regulations (especially in manufacturing) than those in the US?

See if there is a Vespa in a similar color.  I got some touch up red from Vespa that works well enough on my Red Norge.  I would't do a whole panel with the Vespa color as it is not exactly spot on.

The lack of color codes is a long standing issue.
