Triking cross country
« on: October 19, 2018, 08:43:00 PM »
As I speak, a  couple of fellows are attempting New York to L.A. in a guzzi powered Triking in something less than 40 hours. Their hopes are to better the time of another pair that did it in 39 and change I believe . That pair were in a Morgan.

These guys left New York earlier than planned. Left approximately 3:30 P.M. yesterday, half way between Albuquerque and Amarillo . My crude calculation has them at 75mph average .

I have been following these guys via gps. They broke down approximately 7:30 eastern time last night. A short message from them at 3:30 A.M. eastern said clutch/transmision. They are moving again, by what power is unknown. I have a feeling it won't be their last attempt. I'm just glad they'r safe.

So have they aborted the ride, or just the clock?

Rodekyll ,

Have only had minimum contact via e mail and my wife's Facebook. Have been following their progress via a gps program that alerted me every hour to their position with the option of staying tuned in with a map that would refresh every 30 seconds. I knew something was up around 7:30 last night when they stopped moving. I' m guessing Triking was trucked last 5 or 6 hundred miles to L.A. Very few words at this point,
I'm thinking that they are pretty beat and disappointed but will post more here when I find out.

Those aren't valve covers.  They're Shriners hiding under the hood.

I was mistaken about the guys trucking their vehicle the last of their trip. Not sure what broke yet but did hear they made it to L.A. Took  them 43 hrs,53 mins. Think  they will try again. As for the valve covers, they are Triking bling. I didn’t really like them at first but they alow you to see the motor from the cockpit

There was a close relative of these trikes at the Lake Henshaw rally last weekend.

I had a bomber of Pizza Port "Wipeout" IPA, but no opener. I cradled the cold bottle in my hands for a while, which were sore from not riding enough.

After unsuccessful attempts to open the bottle on my Bassa, I told the fellow I was chatting with " I know how to get this opened, watch this " and walked over to the trike. I said " Is there someplace on the front of this machine I can open this ? ".

Hands went for pockets like it was quick draw time at the OK Corral ... my beer was open in about three seconds.

Remind me to bolt a bottle opener on the Bassa - the cork screw is going to be a little bit more of a challenge, but the wine guys from AZ deserve the support.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

The swiss invented this cool little gadget called the army knife.  Bottle opener and cork screw.  The swiss army knew what they were doing.
