Yeah have to agree but I'm keeping it on the back burner.  Other projects ahead of it.

Ya I know, change the color to silver.  ;-T  It will make a great looking bike look better.

I like mine in the stock grey.

My first one, it was one of the first into the UK. Was a bit of a bus though on a tight road. I got the wheels changed to black, ugly in others eyes I don't really care, I got totally fed up with cleaning white wheels

The current work in progress getting completely stripped and cleaned, once I get a mate's rewire out of the way. I suppose not really a Daytona, but it's surely reasonably close

Thanks Dusty, I posted it once before earlier this winter when I first took it. I was searching older Daytona posts and wanted to post a picture in the "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" thread so I recycled it. The haze had a neat effect in the valley that morning.

This picture was taken at bike week in 1979. It's not a Moto Guzzi Daytona, it's a Moto Guzzi at Daytona

Yeah I know but although prettier and more powerful, I'll trade that for the good old reliability and simplicity of the pushrod 1100 mill thanks. My other bike has belts I can do without another.

I hear you there, if I did a Sfida project I think I'd use the Sport as it's base also. I just thought I'd interject the the 4V/Daytona Sfida link since it's a Daytona thread.

If by prettier you mean a blacked out motor etc. someone could always use a Sport 1100 Corsa as a Sfida donor.....

Hi BB

No you're quite right I'm the one going off topic.

When I say prettier to my eyes, the square block Daytona's have a purity of shape similar (although not as pretty as) the round fins. The square head LMs and 1100s look a bit more angular and not nearly as pretty, but its all personal taste.

I'm afraid I really dislike painted motors especially black ones, after a while it flakes and looks awful usually. I guess in areas of the US that can be less of an issue than for others. In the UK its a given.

Magni did a whole range of Daytona and 1100 variants including a Daytona engine into the old style Sfida using his version of the Tonti frame. He then did his version of the spiney's finishing with the Australia.

This particular bike is (more or less) how Magni made it. I don't think many of them exist period. Probably 2 or 3 hundred and most of them I'll bet are in Japan (where most of his bikes ended up, the Japanese have excellent taste). Compared with a Daytona the seat height is amazingly low, which suits my short arse, makes you feel more like you have more control. With the Daytona I always felt I was wobbling along on the top of it.

My `87 LM IV was like that after I put a 130 /70-18 rear tire on it w/a 16" front 110/90 tire.  It felt like you were in it instead of on it.  8)   The handling was a little weird in certain conditions 'cause I found out later the rear tire was made for a wider rim width, but otherwise it sure felt good.
