 Typical You Tube video of poor drivers crashing vehicles... What's of interest is the bike crash...It starts at   :51....what's with dragging the feet? Stuck throttle? Brake failure? or just a bad rider.......

Looks much like it. If you stop the video just before he hits the car you can see he isn't using the front brake. There is maybe a tip of one finger that touches the lever.

Had to hurt. No riding gear, but at least a helmet. Too bad ,looks like a young kid .  Hard to slow a 700 lb. bike with your  sneakers.  I would agree ,lack of road experience the root cause. Classic target fixation.

We have lots of good riders on here,but the average rider is at best herding some of these obese bikes and heaven help you in a panic stop! Good advice is given to get to a large empty parking lot and practice hard braking,but how many do? I ride a variety of bikes,70's to 2000's,each has its own quirks so I always test the brakes when I start a ride.I am lucky to live in a rural area so I can find empty roads to practice on. The Convert has always impressed me with its stopping power,I can't think of a '76 bike of 600 lbs that could stop quicker.someone on here wrote of being with a bunch of new BMW's and none of the antilock bikes could match the 'Vert. I dual sport a DR 650 and a downhill off camber turn on loose gravel will explain momentum and the laws of Physics in a hurry! I only say this to get people to realize that motorcycle riding with skill is a perishable one,you need the practice to stay sharp!!!

I'm not seeing the same thing.   I see the front end of the bike diving under braking, and all four fingers clasping the front brake just before impact.   What his braking foot is doing on the road, I have no idea.

The car driver accelerated pretty fast from the on-ramp, got in the right lane, and then slowed down some (probably slow traffic in front of him).   The bike rider wasn't paying attention, was going way too fast for merging/speeding/slowing traffic in front of him, and didn't know how to brake properly.

I agree - rookie rider on a bike he doesn't know very well, and he's assuming that everything's going to flow along smoothly.   He won't have too many asphalt contusions, but he's going to be sore even if he IS a young man.   I'd be laid up for a week behind that.

 Stop the video at exactly 1:09....It looks like his right hand is on the brake???.. Now stop it at 1:10, has he released the brake lever? I think his foot was down because he was thinking of bailing out..?

My observations:
1. Video is reversed/mirror image.
2. Driver appears to have braked just prior to impact. Note the slight front end dive of the pickup truck in the adjacent lane & overall reduction in speed by all vehicles (er, except the motorcyclist.)
3. Driver appears to anticipate the impact, given the slightly orgasmic sigh virtually at the moment of the collision.

Wow, good call.   It sure is; the drivers are on the wrong sides of their vehicles. 

So much for my analysis!   All that remains for sure  is that the motorcyclist was accelerating while everyone else on the highway appeared to be slowing down, in both lanes.   Too fast for conditions, not looking ahead of the bumper in front of him, and down 'e goes ....
