A tighter lobe separation angle increases overlap and then to make a lumpier idle and favor a higher rpm power curve..

True, but 105* in these things isn't that. Mine idles enormously smoother than it did with the stock LM cam, and pulls harder all the way from idle to redline.
Something wistful and amusing, yet poignant.

Besides lobe separation, there's intake and exhaust lobe centerlines that influence the power delivery. Generally speaking, pushing both of them to a large degree number will smooth out the idle..Just for information, did you check the intake centerline?  Lot of variables with cam timing ...Good to hear you are satisfied !

To continue the story, what was the intake centerline in degrees ?

For what its worth, I was told that your lobe centerline should be no more than 4* from what the separation angle spec. is.  DonG

The cam was dead onto the specs published, centerlines at 105.0*. (.0 in the sense that I don't have a four foot degree wheel lol)

IIRC I took the picture while finding the beginning of the ramp, I mapped the lift every 10* crank rotation to get acceleration rates and calculate spring pressure. The R&D spring kit Web sells is only good to about 7000 with the heavier valve train.

This cam was hand-made for me, so any tolerances in production may have been watched carefully- I had them grind a 1* taper on the lobes to match the radius of the Ford Y-block lifters I'm running over it.

105 degrees intake and exhaust lobe centers is very typical of after market performance cams for the old Triumph 650-750 engines....The B10 cam timing, 20-50 at .050 lift is just a touch different than a 90'S Ducati 900 2 valve engine and a 60's Triumph 650 Bonneville..
