Was a great representative for AMA Flat track racing and motorcycle racing in general for many years after he hung up his leathers.

Its genuinely sad to see 'real deal' motorcycling heroes and fast friends go west, but 'live fast, die young' has come into play for many of mine, that's the way it seems to be.  72 years is I suppose not a bad innings for a life long smoker.  Hope you find those famous carnations and a fast TZ on the other side, Burritto (with two tees, for some reason).   You lived large.

Sad news.  I had my picture taken with Gene in the Daytona pits in 1979.  He was a classy guy
