Show Us Your V9 !
« on: January 14, 2019, 08:15:31 AM »
Getting ready to pick up a new V9 Roamer and have been researching "accessories"

I have ZERO artistic talent, so please post up pictures of your V9 (s) and comment on the accessories.  There are soooo many ugly bikes out there - let's not add this one to the tally !  You know that's gonna happen - if I'm left unsupervised.......

please please please

Thanks,
Kevin

You’ve seen my recent thread on the subject, and bpreynolds had a similar one going a few months back. There’s an accessories catalog on the MG website listing factory options for all the current models. Most of the Roamer and Bobber pieces are interchangeable. YouTube has some interesting videos on customized V9s — most of which seem to sacrifice function to trendy bling, but are fun to watch.

If you know where to look, you can find a service manual for the bike with a lot more detail than the owner’s manual, plus a separate engine manual and electrical system schematic. They go right over my head, but the PDFs are handy to carry on your phone or a flash drive to show a non-Guzzi mechanic in case you need a hand far from the dealership.

Your accessory choices will be based on personal taste and riding style, but one I recommend highly is the Dart flyscreen. Keeps wind off your chest and rain out of the gauge electronics without detracting from the bike’s clean lines. IMHO it works better and costs less than the factory options.

My suggestion is to just hop on the bike and ride it as-is through the break-in period and beyond. Then add only what you need and replace only what doesn’t feel right. The Roamer is a great bike just the way it rolls out of the showroom, and I promise you’re going to enjoy it!

Cadre has links for both the owners and service manuals.

The only thing I added to my V9 were the Hepco and Becker C-Bow bags, the Guzzi windshield and engine guards.

Hey Kev, If you decide on a dart flea screen ride down here and get mine, it's just hangin' in the garage

I was thinking about the Givi rear rack and the Givi PL8202 side carriers.
Or - maybe the Hepco Becker side carriers -

But (either way) the big tubular rectangular looking style, because I would probably want to bolt on a nice set of leather bags -OR- maybe some Tusk aluminum boxes

THIS is the style of bag.  Just a single flap.  Leatherworks, Inc calls it a "Pony Express" bag.  This is an enlarged version.  They custom make just about anything you want.
Anyways, this style is a definite candidate (smaller, of course).

Been out on the web, searching for "V9 panniers" or "V9 saddlebags", etc.   - trying to find pictures.
Remember - no artistic talent here.......  I'm gonna have to copy.

Really like these Hepco-Beckers, and the c-bow mounts aren’t fugly when the bags are off the bike.

I use the H-B C bow mount system with 22L hard cases. They're small for sure. I've taken to finding out how little I can get by with when I travel - my version of ultra-light backpacking. Less is more and all that. I like the look of the Roamer as is, that's one reason I purchased mine, but I have made a few adjustments: removed the passenger pegs and brackets, got a solo seat, installed an air horn to replace the pathetic stock beeper, removed stickers and the (to my eye) cheap plastic logos that were glued to various surfaces. Over 35k miles and so far - so good!
