Thanks for the link! I think the same guy made an earlier review as well when his bike had a thousand miles or so.
Umm..5,000 miles on a rear tyre with a bike that size ?I didn't see the burnouts but would have been fun ! If that is a good result, then 18,000 k's on Michelin 4 and 5's on a heavily loaded Norge, seems acceptable !
You know there's more to it than bike size right?I mean, size of the tire, usage, and maybe most importantly any differences in compounds of the tires. You could have a tire on any bike that burns out in 2-3k miles and equally you could have one last 20k miles. Though I admit in this market both tend to be more rare than not.
Now Kevin...The Norge is heavier, more powerful, and Pilots are as good as anything out there for the road.If the Pilots were as hard as a bull's arse and lasted 18 to 20 you'd say fine. But they're not..I don't really care if his tyre is gone in 2,000 k or 20,000I just thought it odd to brag about something so mediocre and on a bike that wouldn't pull the skin off a rice custard..
Yes weight and power is part of the equation. So it tire brand, type, compound, and SIZE. I'd have to go check the specs but I'm seeming to remember the size and profile of the tire is dramatically different on a V7 vs a Norge.I also didn't see any "bragging" I saw a typical amateur review video that plainly stated his experience. Actually it wasn't bad in that case.FYI the Sport Demons that come stock on the V7s (some love, me included) typically only lasted 3-7k depending on the person/usage/ambient conditions etc.Honestly I managed nearly 7k but it was down to the cords.I don't recall ever getting much more than that out of the B11 tires either.<shrugs>No matter carry on
Not to mention road surface, how hard and often you brake and accelerate, whether you slab it, stop and go, curves or straight roads, etc. On my sportier bikes I wear the front as fast as the rear. On other bikes it is two rear for one front.
Let me emphasize something:I don't think that the size/weight/power of Huzo or a Norge are his biggest problem right now with regards to potential tire wear:https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/07/05/melting-road-leaves-cars-drowning-tar-australia/https://www.news.com.au/technology/environment/roads-melt-as-heatwave-escalates-across-parts-of-australia/news-story/ea23d38d583ccafa24c6a42b9574b06fhttp://time.com/5330766/australia-melting-roads/
The lad needs to keep a glass of warm milk near to his biscuit. Classy he is, though. Having not edited it out. R3~
A little too cryptic for me..I don't follow.
Huzo - c'mon mate, wouldn't pull the skin off a rice custard ? I'll have you know my V7 111 will whip the froth off a skinny soy decaf latte in the blink of an eye ! Never an issue for me though coz I'm never more than 5 minutes from a cafe 😊Glenn
