How many miles will an average sane rider go before hitting reserve?

What Guzzi? My Norge does not have a reserve, just a low fuel warning. 220 miles is about the max I would try to go.

You didn't ask, but my 2007 Norge "1200" (1151cc actually) 2-Valve will get an easy 200 miles (6 gallon tank) with an [alleged] 1/4 tank to go on the gauge.  I would note that it goes 100 miles on the first "1/4 tank" and the next 100 miles takes it down to 3/4 empty.  Remember:  Fill up early and often!

Thks for answering my question. Yeah, I dropped the ball not stating which bike. It's a '17 Griso.

Once it's run in being ridden normally you should be able to get close to 200 km before the light comes on. Mine running Mark's most highly developed map I generally get 225-230 km before light on in warm weather. Cool weather or sticking the spurs in will knock it down appreciably.

I believe the 8 Valve Griso tank is only 16.7 Liters (4.41 US gallons)???? There seems to be a little confusion over the actual capacity, I'm sure some reviewers consider it empty when the light comes On.

Earlier 4 valves are listed at 17.2 Liters (4.54 US gallons)

On a recent trip with my 07 1100 4 valve I ran right out a couple of times as it was too far between gas stops
Both times it ran out  at 355 Km (222 Miles)
The reserve light came on at 280 Km then shortly afterwards the trip display started counting up to run out at 75 Km (280 + 75 = 355)

Over the 8,000 Km trip it averaged 4.84 L/100 Km (48.6 MPG) I think that's better than any other motorcycle I have owned.

Same experience on my '12 Norge, 220 average before refueling.  I'm running a Beetle map. Depending on the wind direction and my speed, have made 250 miles on a tank.

Exactly the same as Bp... Both GRiSO's (13 and 17) average between 30 to 36 depending on who I'm with and where we are.

2015 8V Griso with a Beetle Map - getting 38 mpg on average, and have gone several times now up to 160 miles before the reserve comes on...pretty good for a Griso.  I don't ride it like a bat out of hell, but nice cruising with occasional romps up to higher speeds and backroads.  I'd probably get 40 mpg if it was straight highway cruising...may try that on the way to Moto GP in Austin next month and see what I get.

I appreciate the responses! I have beetle's map but it won't be installed (with help fm leone) untill get the bike back after the cam pisition sensor fix (58 miles new).
If I go north fm home there's 1 gas station (@ 80 miles) in 160 miles. Go east there's 1 gas station (20 miles) in 130 miles. All with sporadic cell service. Go south to the county seat it's 50 miles. Reno is 40 miles west.

With my '03 Breva 750 I know I have had 270 miles out of the tank, probably another 1/2 - 1 lit usable left in it.  Mileage lines up with the AA figures for the distance.

I must admit to sweating just a bit.

In the real world at real speeds, that’s about what I’d expect.
Seen better, seen worse on mine, but with THAT MAP... :thumb:
Mine’s incredibly good.
As mentioned, if I had to I could strangle 500+ k’s but that would be at unrealistic speed.
Guaranteed 480 @ highway speeds.

My goodness, that is small.  Even the Breva has 18 lit, usable evidently about 17.5.  Never actually have been in the position to fully know (thankfully).
