Aux. Lighting Mounting points on a 1100 / 1200 Breva?

Was thinking of mounting a pair of aux. driving lights on my 1200 Sport but don't care for the added weight of crash bars. Has anyone found a good mounting location for lights on the 1100 1200 Brevas without crash bars?

What I have noticed some have done is use a longer bolt with a bushing on one of the caliper bolts on each side. The bushing fills the cavity where the bolt recesses and the wires are routed up with the brake lines and other wire. I would imagine there are others that have come up with creative solutions.

Modern CREE type LED light pods are not heavy. I have a set mounted on a light bar (came with the bike) that is 3/8" case aluminum and probably 100x weaker than the steel crash bars. You can also buy (if they make one) or farbicate a light bar if you are dead set against crash bar mounting.

I use Traveller 3" Pods from Tractor Supply at $74.99 they are not a bank breaker and they are very effective, bright and weight about 1-1/4lbs each.

There are also lots of other options, fork mounts, caliper mounts (as mentioned) either google or ebay "motorcycle LED fog lights" and see what strikes your fancy.

Hi,

 I tried mounting small Denali 2 2.0  lights to my Breva. I bought the fender mount kit but there is just not enough meat so to say on the fork leg to make me feel comfortable mounting them there. I also tried mounting the pair on the triple tree right under the headlight with mild success but was not %100 pleased. I also tried mounting the same lights on the actual triple tree fork clamps and did not like due to the fact the bolts go in at an angle. I did not give up my dream of having better light on my Breva and ended up buying another set of Denali lights but this time went with the much larger D4's and mounted them to my crash bars. The mounting is solid and the output of light is fantastic! Right now I'm running a  combination of spot and flood pattern lens and I can light up both sides of a 4 lane. I purchased the light kit from Twisted Throttle and have been very pleased. The wire harness and switch are plug and play...the entire kit is of high quality.

 I'm also getting ready to remove the stock headlight and install a new bucket and led headlight which is described from start to finish (with detail photos) here:

Are those 2 allen head bolts that attach to bracket/clamps for the brake lines on the lower triple tree? if so you can run a "slim" single row LED light bar. I'm running a 7" 40 watt LED light bar on my Quota. I had to build clamps and brackets.I stole the idea from a guy on a KTM 950. I have a small switch inside my left handguard. I also used a separate relay for the light. I bought the light for $25 4 years ago . It took 4 weeks to come from China or wherever. My light rocks. Fantastic during the day. My lightbar is a combination spot / flood..whatever that means.
On my VStrom I had a bracket that mounted 2 small lights. It would use the same location off your lower triple tree. I used cheap Walmart driving lights.(Once again I stole that idea from another KTM 950 rider). The Walmart lights were under $20. Very bright used 100 watts.Really small in size. I ran a light switch on my dash. It also had a separate relay for this setup.

Yes, those are two allen bolts holding the brake line clamps to the triple tree. I also tried a set up with small round light pods and the lights would hit the top of the fender under load. Yes, I'm sure a slim single row light bar would work. IMHO,  the best thing you can do with the Breva headlight is ditch it and buy a new shell and headlight. There difference is night and day!!

The pics are from my EVT, but maybe a mount like I used might work. It clamps to the fork leg.
