EV conector ?

I'm in the finale stages of bringing the new to me 98 EV back to life, after doing a clutch, seals etc. So there these 2 connectors under the right side tank zip tied to the frame which seem to want to be together but are zipped so tight they cannot get close, I know I can just cut the ties but want to make sure if I should. And then there is the TPS connector that I can't seem to find a home and one last thing should there be a hose coming off the fitting on the right side of fuel regulator? It's my first time working on a FI bike and I am amazed at the amount of stuff they stuffed

That opened connector might be the sidestand switch. See if you can trace it. On that model, if you simply unplug it, you can run the bike with the sidestand out. SO some people unplugged it.

Not sure what you mean by 'TPS' connector. The TPS is under the left side throttle body. That connector that you show near the back left side might be a connector to the air temperature sensor in the airbox if your has that. Not sure though. Look around the airbox for an unplugged sensor. It is also about the same size as the sensor in the left valve cover. But I don't think it is that.

On the fuel regulator, that normally is vented to atmosphere and is open.


Don't you have a battery ground to the flywheel housing?

The TPS is on the bottom (I think) of the left hand throttle body, a 3 pin conenctor.

No the port on the fuel regulator is left open to atmosphere (it was used on an earlier scheme)

It is hanging there by the hole.


BTW, Make certain you reinstall the timing sensor shims if there are any.

Who disassembled and tied things up?  I'm not sure, but on the top picture, that right side zip tie looks a lot newer and more temporary than the left side one.  Might this have been disconnected just for the purpose of crabbing the frame?

I have two 98EV.  I just looked under the right side of the tank on each.  It seems those disconnected pieces you show go to the flywheel sensor that is still hanging loose.  Follow the wire from that right hand connector to verify it goes to the flywheel sensor.  So, yes, that looks like they should be connected.  Mine hang below the frame rail while yours seems above the frame rail.  Just inadvertently rolled around?

 The shims are with the screws mounted to the hole for the sensor. I'm at work, but before I left I check the plug for the flywheel sensor it has 3 leads the wire which is not plugged together have 4 leads.
 My friend Ron Fosse who owned the EV since new, who passed away this fall did make it easy for me to put back together having put all the fasteners in envelopes and marking what they where for. the connectors also where marked but a couple fell off over the years when the masking tape dried out. The I one I think is for the TPS was labeled as such, he was pretty meticulous in his work.
