Warbirds Over Tulsa

For you aviation buffs in the NE-OK, SE-KS, SW-MO, NW-AR area:



The Commemorative Air Force will be bring their historic tour of WWII aircraft to Tulsa on April 12 through April 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Aircraft present will include: B-24 Liberator “Diamond Lil”, P-51 Mustang “Charlottes Chariot”, C-45 Expeditor “Bucket of Bolts”, T-6 Texan and a PT-13 Stearman.  Aircraft rides are now on sale on the AirPower History Tour website.  The B-24 plans to fly Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m., it will be open for tours during other times.

Admission price during this special event will be $20 for adults (age 12 and older), $10 for children (ages 5-11) and Free for kids (ages 4 and under), and one Planetarium show is included with each ticket.  Through agreements with the CAF, no coupons will be accepted and TASM members will not get free admission during this special event.

If you're anywhere near, pony up the $$$ and get a ride on the bomber.
I hemmed and hawed before shelling out $450.00 for a 30 min B-17 flight.  BEST 30 minutes of my LIFE I tell you.
GET ON ONE before there are no more left to get on.  Yea, it's steep.  It's a flipping WWll  BOMBER.  Are you kidding me?  GO!

I rode in the B-17 called the "Texas Raiders" about three years ago. Some of the best money I have ever spent. Only disappointment was that they never ran the engines past 60% power so never got to hear them scream but still quite loud.

Yep.  Absolutely unique experience with no proper words to describe it.
All I can say, again, is GO DO IT.  The window is rapidly closing.

I went with a buddy who's father flew 17's with the 8th.  My dad flew 24's out of Darwin.

I went in to work one morning and there was a B24 getting ready to take off so I drove my hopped up Dodge to the taxiway and lined up with him.  When he released the brakes I put er to the wood. I was able to stay with him until he lifted off when he just walked away.  Makes me imagine what it would be like if he had 140 octane and didn't care if he stressed the engines.  We have a 5k foot runway, I think he was off by 3k feet.  Ya gotta love a small airport without scheduled airline service.
