Injector covers

Quick little question, I was browsing around for V7 III parts earlier and found some metal injector covers, said to replace the plastic oem ones. I'm wondering what the point would be, would the plastic variety be prone to melting or something? What would the pros and cons of both be?

On my '04 EVT the chrome plated plastic ones would crack at the mounting screw holes. The ones I had did so I replaced them with the ones from MG Cycle. Quite happy with them!

Exactly, I did the same on my EVT.  Not sure on a V7, but I assume the metal ones are a replacement for broken plastic ones, or just a "bling" upgrade.

...and I did, on the V7 Stone because the originals were plasti-chrome - ick. So I was vain enough.

Are the ones on the Carbon plastic? I dunno, but they're black so they look fine to me.

Ahhhhhhhhh ok, time will tell then. Guess I wont worry about crossing that bridge until I have to, I wont rule out getting vain and replacing them anyway however

The anodised ones in the cattle dogs do look prettier, but the chromed plastic of those on the V7C are still as they were some 10 years & 190,000 km ago & still  keep the raindrops off.
