8V oil thermostat

Personally, I would like a 1400cc retro standard, based on the Bellagio.

The bellagio has been out of production longer than the griso and the rest of the CARC bikes.

An update. Yesterday, I incorporated a temperature sensor into the oil cooling line from the sump to the thermostat.

The oil temp stabilised around 100C. It never went above 105, and never below 98 on cruise. Once the engine temp stabilised at 107C, oil temp sat on 101-103 the whole time. Ambient temp was 17C.

I made one for my Stelvio back in April 2017.
Used a Mishimoto 93°C Wax-Stat.
Housing machined from a Round Bar of Alloy.

I looked at the Mishimoto gear, but went with the Improved Racing one due to its shape/port orientation. I was determined to have it 'out of sight'.

Mine's half-hidden by the new Sump Guard I made to mount it to.
For such a large Bike, there's very little space to fit anything extra.

Doc, if you think there isnt much space on a Stelvio you ought to have a squizz at a Griso! There is nowhere for anything!

I'd guessed that already Pete, hence the lack of ABS on them.
Does make you wonder though, how the hell they managed to fit ABS to this . . .

Hi ,

inspired by Mark solution on Griso I decided to do the same on my Stelvio. The goal was to install thermostat with original hoses to be able to quickly change it back to original connection in case of broken thermostat or leaking fittings. I made 4 new fittings of 2 types. First type is AN6 to M16x1,5 and second is M16x1,5 to 9/16-18 UNF-2B . One of fitting must be little bit bended to don´t stress original hose.
Thermostat is completely hidden behind original oil sump cover . The resulting oil engine temperature is between 96 to 103°C at any riding style. Heating up form 23 to 100°C is less than 15minutes at 20°C ambient temperature.

Hi, I used the same thermostat as Beetle. It is FSC-215 from Improved Racing.
