BEST WAY TO REPLACE STELVIO BREATHER TUBES?

Is there an optimal method to repair or replace cracked top end breather tubes on my Stelvio?  Both cylinders have cracked vents after 5 years use.

There is no 'Best Way'. It's a prick of a job.

My 09 griso had the same scenario,  the tubing will dry and crack  at that end near the engine heat more than along the rest of it's length. That plus the vibration at the clamp. I just trimmed off the end a smidge and re clamped them with screw type fuel line clamps. Don't over tighten them.  You could reinforce that  end first  with some shrink tubing but I didn't and two seasons later they are still holding in there.  Much easier to replace on the griso when the time comes , but for now we're good.

Also you could splice on some new tubing at that end with some  plastic or brass tubing connectors from any hardware store.if needed like these

After reading this, I knew there would be no sleep the night until I went out to the shop and had a close look at the breather tubes on my '09.

Thankfully, the rubber is still smooth and uncracked, but I believe that I will treat it to a little massage with some sort of rubber conditioner tomorrow ..... !!

Use 7/16" ID hose. It will fit a lot better than the 1/2" ID hose.
