Any HD Sprint Fans?

I need some help identifying a HD Sprint motor I bought the other day, no idea why I really bought it but it looked like it needed a home. it has been sitting in a crate at a local bike wreckers for a long time and I finally sprung for it, didn't pay much so it may one day come in useful.

Its missing an exhaust rocker cover and the push rods and who knows what else??





I think it may be similar to this 250 Sprint I found a picture of



Anyone have a parts manual for one of these??

 It does look like an early 250 , more Aermacchi than HD . No idea about a manual , but I foolishly asked a parts guy in a Harley dealership about any info on one , the entire staff denied there was ever any such model  It was in the back of my truck at the time , so I showed it to them , they still argued there was no such animal  Oddly enough , the old multi-line Euro shop in Tulsa located what was needed to make it run , the owner then took it in on trade some months later .

I know a dude that owns a MC repair shop that had a couple of those he restored, he might have some stuff. Pm if your interested. I can get you his number

With the pretty exposed rocker boxes and those cases, it's an earlier 250 sprint.  They got a big cover over all that cool head on the later 250's before the 350 came out & then went back to a similar pretty head with exposed rocker boxes on the final 73-74 350 electric start bikes.  Any vin numbers?

I think most if not of all the related bits and pieces are finally gone from here and at the shop, but I can check.  Might still be a rocker cover somewhere.  Don't think we have a parts manual. I traded my last Sprint for my current 250 Ducati about 4 years ago.  I've know I still have a later starter and some pieces for a 73-74 350 here.

I have had several sprints and even road raced them for a few years with AHRMA.
That is a pre-1967 250 that you have. 67-68 Aermacchi redesigned the head and rocker cover (called “ashtray” head). 1969-1972 they went to the 350cc ashtray. 1973 and 1974 were 350cc but went back to the “knuckle” head, went to a 5 speed gearbox, and added an electric starter. 

Looking at the crown of the piston, on the lower right side of the case you should see a boss with the serial number stamped on it. The first two digits will be the year followed by a letter denoting model (C, H, or SS). These numbers can also be found on the steering neck of the frame.

I like to take things apart ......  it’s a pretty cool little motor, damn heavy for a 250 and appears to be in good shape less a couple bearings and broken piston rings. Will fit some new bits, button it up and put it on the shelf, maybe a nice early 60’s Sprint project will turn up one day.
