Is the owner of this bike on the forum?
« on: April 30, 2019, 06:04:03 PM »

Wonder if anyone here knows who this bike belongs to.

Saw it in August 2007 at the motorcycle campground off the BRP.

This was at a Guzzi gathering.  Anyone remember a Guzzi Gathering near the BRP in '07?

He's suppose to be out here with the family for the daughter's wedding vow renewal ceremony.

Yes, I am in AZ and ride a '98 Centauro GT, but that's not mine!  Nice Hepco & Becker hard bags, however!!

That engine was born specifically for the Daytona. Late '80's iirc.  R3~

Roebling3 is correct...

In the USA, the Centauro and Daytona RS shared the same engine.  Pretty much the same everything, under the skin...

The title for my Centauro shows Daytona RS.   Must be the translation from the VIN.

Yes, that's correct.  Other than the paint, another difference from the original '93-style Daytona engine is that later engines have Carrillo connecting rods.  This applies to all the anthracite painted engines, including both the Centauro and the RS.

The US spec RSs (also BTW sold in a few other markets) have a different engine number prefix than Centauro engines, while having nominally the same engine spec (meaning same cams).  The European spec RS has C-kit cams but is otherwise the same including the same engine number prefix as the US RS.

Its interesting to me to wonder why the US spec RS shares engine number prefix with the Euro spec RS and not the Centauro, which 'should be' the same engine. I've theorized without any proof whatsoever that all RS engines regardless of cams might have some other internal difference from Centauro engines, pistons or something, to allow 9000 rpm rev limit that is common to all RSs, versus the Centauros 8000 rpm limit.
