New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Thought I read something about a hole in the sump that went undetected until it was too late (?)
Perfect bike for a 1400 transplant!!!
I like the CARC shield - wonder where he got it?
Well...I'll be damned...that's Sam Baker's bike. He rode with me and Twowings back in 2016 when we all met up in John Day on our 3 Norges, and we rode back from Oregon thru Montana and to Wyoming. What a pity his bike blew up...now I know why we haven't seen him active lately. I wonder if he got another Guzzi or not...
Not that easy Mike. To get it to work you really need to use a 1200 block and there are a host of other things that need changing. I'm having to go back to square one on the Stelvio conversion which is annoying. There are also problems with the breathing system when you go to 1400. There simply isn't enough crankcase volume.Pete
It's the 1400 case that is the main issue. The 1400's use a different phase sensor and phonic wheel. Substituting the 1200 wheel is easy enough. The sensor? Not so much as it's position has to be accurate.Strangely the 1400 sump appears to be smaller but there is less crap hanging about inside it which adds greater volume. Before I do a baffle plate I'm going to build up a 1400 sump to try on Mark's 1400 and see what happens. It may be just enough if we lower the oil level a tad.We actually bought 1400 sumps for both our bikes years ago but never got round to fitting them.
Oh it's a success. Apart from the oil expulsion problem!
It's significant.
Don't want to go to such a dirty system unless unavoidable. The main problem with all of the 8V bikes isn't the design of the breather system it's its volume! Unfortunately space, especially on a Griso, is at a premium. Working out where to put improvements is the tricky bit.First step will be trying a couple of PCV valves in the breather pipes. Then a sump swap. Then an auxiliary separator.
Not a fan of using the frame. I've washed too much crud out of frames to be happy with it. It's a possibility though.
Hi everyone. Can you tell me what is the CARC shield and for what reason people use it? Honestly, I have seen it at first.
