1957 Aermacchi Chimera this must have been so stylish tooling around the streets of Milan with your girlfriend sitting side saddle on back... enclosed under the curvaceous sheet metal is as 175cc four stroke, looks like a Norton Jubilee with a jet engine slung below

I think this would be considered Mid Century Modern (MCM), though I do see some Art Deco-ness in there

One of those rascals showed up at the Sturbridge Italian Meet a couple of years ago, maybe even last year. I took lots of pics. Maybe the same one? THAT is style, and if I was a wealthy man, I'd buy it to put in my dining room, in the corner. Or maybe at the curved base of my marble, spiral staircase.

This is the Aermacchi I would like to restore, common in comparison to the Chimera, same type of knucklead single cylinder four stroke.



Since I picked up a 1966 Aermacchi / Harley 250cc engine this spring I am starting to get interested in this brand and model. I don't care much for the styling of the H model but the 'C' style of bikes up to 1966 are pretty cool. Parts availability for the motor has been great so far and not too expensive.

This is the H model, nice but not as 'Italian' as the 'C'

"Jet Age" subset of Mid Century Modern.

Art Deco was pretty much dead by 1950, with MCM's variations coming on strong.  Jet Age / Space Age was all the rage in 1957-1959.

 If the cylinder was filled with hydrogen and had an ignitor it could look really great going past the Steak and Shake on full burn.

The one trouble I had with the Jetson's sedan was just too much glass - overcooked the interior if you weren't careful.
