I saw him last in Huston, Tx. @ The Mucky Duck. After the show, I asked him to sign a CD (still have it) he asked "what should I wright?" I asked, your name???? Couldn't read the name but he drew a PERFECT martini glass WITH an olive.

Saw him a few times in Cambridge, MA. Thought he was older than I. Cripes, what a shame. A fellow; that's certain. Likely the only non-jazz musical performer whose presence and music I enjoyed. Betty Carter, at the same venue, wonderful. Must be 30+ years ago.  R3~

Always considered him a jazz guy myself. But jazz has MANY facets  :thumb:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru4IqqeNduM

Stopped for a quick dinner at D'Angelo's just up the street this evening.  Mentioned to Sherri the hostess that Leon Redbone had passed, not sure she'd know who I meant.  Her response was 'have you ever heard his version of "Seduced?" '  Not til now.  And here, for those of you that haven't heard Leon Redbone, is "Seduced!"

I was just singing the other day "Champagne Charlie is my name...", probably have not heard it in 35 years.

He was on an early Sat. Night Live in the 70's. I was the only one in my dorm who appreciated his style. He will be missed.

Sad news indeed, he's certainly one of my favourites. His album "Christmas Island" gets played every Christmas Day morning in our house.

And he was only 127 years old.   Very sad
