STELVIO REPLACEMENT BATTERY
« on: June 15, 2019, 02:19:28 PM »
M.I. installed a Yuasa YTX20CH-BS in my 2013 Stelvio NTX. Given I bought it in November 2014, with a Battery Tender, I've gotten a respectable 4.5 years service out of it - which is a vote for a like kind replacement.  But I really like Odyssey batteries, however, they don't make a model specific for the Stelvio.

I'd like to hear experiences of other Stelvio riders, with OEM or replacement batteries, before I spend +$120 on a new one.

Maybe a Motobatt? https://www.batterymart.com/p-mbtx16u-motobatt-agm-battery.html

Probably the most common option, that. I’ve had a lithium battery on mine for ~3 years. It’s 10 pounds lighter than a standard battery and has been reliable, if a bit slow to crank on cold weather. Never failed though.

My Stelvio and 1400 use the same battery. I discovered O' Riley Auto parts near me stocks their own house brand for $104.00 It is an AGM. I have no idea who makes the battery for them, but I'll likely give it a try when I need to. (I think there are many more battery brands than manufacturers.) I too wish Odyssey made what fits these bikes and I'm surprised than have not since this size/shape battery has been in service now for nearly 10 years, possibly more.

I've had great luck with batteries from Battery Sharks'. https://www.batterysharks.com/Motorcycle-Batteries-s/439.htm

Many sizes, last a long time and are reasonably priced.

Lithium has many advantages  :thumb: Compact, light, powerful, holds charge longer.  Only downside is dedicated charger required.
