I've been following her also. Not too much info about the bike other than she really likes it.
Probably the ideal bike if 70mph cruising is acceptable and the money saved on the intial purchase helps pay for the cost of travelling.

For some reason I really think they are a neat bike,but the the practical side of me leans toward aDR 650 but then the Guzzi ,Buell side leans towards the Himalayan.

Wife bought one a while back. She also has a 1000 V-strom. Loves the Himmy for day trips and such and has had no issues with it other than the compass sometimes goes into calibration mode. She has had it replaced and so far so good.

You Tube is loaded with hundreds of video reviews, owner reports, comparison tests, etc.
I found this one particularly helpful, casual and entertaining, posted by a professional motorcycle tour guide who leads groups riding much larger machines, often thru rough terrain, for long distances.

Peter Egan recently bought one.  I would have bet that he would have went with the new Triumph 1200 Scrambler but he chose the Himalayan

If you do Facebook, there are also a number of good Himalayan group pages. I feel that the "Royal Enfield Himalayan Owners USA' to be the best and largest group leaning most toward the US and European bikes and riders.
