Yes, I find it to be very good, just watch the rubber hoses on exhaust pipes-loose you vacuum pretty quick.......
One trick is to tilt the reader back a little, it will accentuate the differences in the reading when comparing against cylinders (lowers the effect of gravity on the rods)

I just bought one. Good unit. With the "restriction" sections of tubing, the readings do not bounce around.
