The Most Undervalued Guzzi
« on: July 18, 2019, 06:56:21 PM »

I'm curiously watching this eBay auction to see if the 1100 Sport is still so undervalued. I prefer the carbureted version myself, but this looks as good as you could hope to find for sale (one owner--not me).

I've owned all the Le Mans bikes through to the Nero Corsa, and these Sports are the shit! Especially considering they could (or can) usually be had for small change! I know there are a handful of riders on this forum who would agree with that experience.

Let's see what all the money is these days:

I have been salivating over that bike also.  What a peach!!  Amazing condition.  Must be one of the best anywhere.

If I didn't have my V11S I would be going for it.  Dang it is beautiful even in yellow!

I've seen this one in the flesh, about as " new " as a used bike can be.

The only flaw that I see, is it hasn't been ridden enough. The Sports are one of my favorite Guzzi's.

I have been salivating over that bike also.  What a peach!!  Amazing condition.  Must be one of the best anywhere.

I'm curiously watching this eBay auction to see if the 1100 Sport is still so undervalued. I prefer the carbureted version myself, but this looks as good as you could hope to find for sale (one owner--not me).

This bike is (or was) for sale on MGNOC for $7.9k and an ADV for $7.5k.  I would like to see this bike sell for at least $7.5k, especially since the milage is low, he has the full Staintune exhaust, the original exhaust, and the Creedon chip.

I think that the new owner, if it sells, will need to install a set of new tires, since the seller didn't state that the current tires were new, so I assume that they could be very low milage older tires, which is no big thing. I also have two yellow 1100's, and the wheels needed to be powder coated on both bikes, since the original silver paint turned over time into a creamy concrete color........ which doesn't look good. This eBay bike's wheels also seem to have lost their silver shine. (But, I could be wrong). Either way, it's no big deal either. Let's say that the new owner, at the most, is possibly looking at spending $1k total to get this bike flawless.

I also think that the times for finding nice lower milage 1100 Sports are coming to an end. The lowest milage Sport I own is a black 1997 with 1388 miles on the clock. The miles on this bike won't increase since I don't ride it.

So lets hope that this bike will sell for big $$$, and more importantly, it's going to a buyer who will appreciate and take care of this bike.

My yellow 1997. I finally got her license plates and insurance today, so today was the first day since I bought her two years ago that I took her for a ride.

This is my 1997 with 1388 original miles

Thanks for chiming in on this Andy, I was wondering if you were one of the bidders or not. If the price stays reasonable someone will get a great bike!

I really dig the Centauro! Bold styling with a racy chassis. There’s one for sale on cycletrader that appears to have a Daytona engine in it. Can you even get parts for that any longer?!

Would agree...the poor, unloved Centauro was either a LOVE IT or HATE IT from day one...  They never sold well in the marketplace either...

Nice, sorted, "needs nothing" examples today fetch between $5500-$6500  :thumb:

I've owned 5 Guzzi's in my time, and this is by far, my favorite! :boozing: :thumb:

Very similar but not identical.  RSs sold in many markets have different internal engine tune, mainly different cams.  US/Swiss etc RS engines have the same cams but still a different engine number series for reasons unknown to me.  All RSs have a 9000 rpm red limit set point versus 8000 rpm on the Centauro.

Stop micro managing this fellas.  Every street going Guzzi since at least the intro of the T series is undervalued!  Anybody who has ever tried to sell one can vouch for that.

An 1100 Sport was the first Guzzi I ever rode and I would swap my 1400 Touring for a pristine 1100 Sport in a heartbeat.  However, I’d have a hard time laying out $7,500 cash for one.  You can almost buy two very nice 900SS’ for that much.  You can find an immaculate 900SS for under 6k and lots of decent examples for under 4K.  Unless you’re a Guzzi collector the pricing on Sport’s makes no sense.

Undervalue means to underestimate the value of something.  My take on that meaning would be when you value something at x dollars, and it sells for x + y dollars.

What I am reading here is that you all are overvaluing these Moto Guzzis because the market says they are actually worth less.

The latest review of those tires I could find was from 2003.

I have both bikes, great low mileage condition bikes that I would value much the same money, but if I were selling both the Ducati would probably attract a bigger buying audience, and is the more practical choice being lighter weight and much easier to ride. It saddens me to see how cheap Griso's are  going for. No idea how the Griso Rates as opposed to others, but in a world where leftover V7's and even new from the crate MGX's go for 60% of original MSRP, other than the latest HOT commodity the V85TT, what Guzzi isn't undervalued???

yeah, classic ebay bidding technique. if you really want the item then you program in a bid to come in at the last second and a half of the bidding period and you make your bid significantly higher than the previous high.  $7500 for a sporti that clean is going to become the new normal. of course there is really no "normal" in such a scarce market.
