Remove the bags and top case and the Norge is no slouch in the twisties. With the bags and top case I have had my 8V up to 140 indicated (at least 130+) actual and was still pulling a bit when I ran out of room on a private runway.

Maybe it’s because of the time period I became obsessed with motorcycles but the 1000S has always been my grail bike. It’s the only Guzzi I could see myself buying and then keeping for life.

IMO the ultimate Guzzi sport bike:

The MGS01 never did a thing for me. It looks like a Honda. It is a style of bike that Guzzi has never made (except of course for the MGS01), and it just doesn't fit the brand IMHO. Glad they never tried to develop the idea any further because the weight of the engine, and it's relatively modest power, just doesn't lend itself to that sort of sports bike.
Guzzi sports bikes are built more for the long haul and sport touring, open road kinds of machines, which is one of the reasons I love them.

Sorry, rant over, I am sure it probably is the ultimate "Guzzi sport bike" in a lot of respects.

Picked this up a while back. One family owned since new, 20,000 miles. Was so stock they kept the stickers on it. I added the Mistrals and Creedon chip.

That's a high cam motor as found in the Daytona and centauro. 1225cc with its own special tuning.

This is the first red 1997 1100 Sport I bought, which started it all!

The latest yellow 1997 1100 Sport I bough just yesterday. This bike is still in Toronto, Canada, and it's going
to be a couple of weeks before I have time to pick her up

Silver 1995 (with golden wheels up front) & 1996 1100 Sport

Blue 1996 1100 Sport

Black 1997 1100 Sport

MGS was the ultimate expression of the spine frame. Honda has never build anything like it.

Yeah, I know, but it looks absolutely nothing like anything else Guzzi ever made, and an awful lot like a Japanese sport bike to me. I just never understood the attraction. To my way of thinking, if you like Guzzi's then why would you like that?

If they would build the MGS with the ergonomics of the Ducati super sport , and stick a water-cooled version of the Griso motor in it, I’d buy it today! Since they don’t , I’m stuck buying a Ducati 1098s....

Evolution of the spine frame bikes:

Personally, I don’t think that the MGS/01 is off the mark. If anything, the later Lemans is the weaker evolution though I’m not saying it isn’t a good bike.

Did he purchase that from the guy who runs Gutsibits in the UK or was that a different bike?

I'm interested in any details you have about running temps as it appears to be running a MotoSpezial Vee sump and no cooler (I'm having problems with temperature on my RS)
