03 Stone seat or geezers my ass hurts.
« on: August 11, 2019, 10:31:22 AM »
Just got back from my first longish trip,  first off I really bonded with the Guzzi,  I enjoyed the bike immensely,  handled great and was comfy but for the seat.
So I started looking for a alternative seat with not much luck,   anyone have a suggestion  ( other than getting tougher )   thanks.

See if Ned's cycle in Iowa is still redoing seats, theirs were fantastic and reasonably priced.

I bought an air hawk seat cushion for my v7. The difference was night and day. I too found the stock seat unbearable after two hours in the saddle

He's still in the game. I sent mine back for a refresh this spring after 10+ years of exemplary service.

The stock seats concentrate the rider's weight towards the middle, eventually aggravating the tailbone.

The Ned's treatment adds outboard "cheek support" to spread the load out.

Im in the same boat. I just got my 02 stone this year, and love it...  but really after 100 miles im pretty much done..  Im cheap [Guzzi content] so im kinda hoping I can find a used custom..  But really a inch or 2 higher, and a inch farther back, would be great for me.

I think you will be surprised how reasonable a Ned custom seat turns out to be.  This way they can modify it exactly the way you want it.  It may prevent buying 2 or 3 or 4 used custom seats that don't work for you.  Plus it helps support our little community.

I have a Ned's Cal 3 seat on my 02 Stone. Great seat. The Rich Maund custom is currently in the shed. Probably equal comfort for me, but the Ned's pillion is definitely better.

I needed to raise my seat above my pegs, 03 lemans, so I picked up an Alaskan Leather sheepskin seat cover.

3+ decades ago I put seat covers on an Alfa Spider instead of AC and was happy with the compromise.

Funny thing is I had to get another for my Griso because my 24 year old son said the seat needed help on 10+ hour rides.

Get the one with the nose strap if you like to stand on the pegs while riding for releaf.

This.

The best money you'll ever spend, and you'll only spend it once.

And for what it's worth, when I originally called Ned's all those years ago, I just answered Jim's questions regarding my build, weight, etc. and let him do his thing.

Point being, had I been in charge of the recipe, I would have got it wrong. Jim knows what he's doing.
